Swedish Hasbeens: 70's Wedding

How authentically 70s are these shots from the latest Swedish Hasbeens campaign? I've spent the evening working on a project that pertains to the current 70s trend, so naturally, this set of photos was of particular interest to me! I think I'm most fascinated by the girl in the chocolate brown mini dress in the big family shot, and the groom in his unbelievable velvet blazer and over-sized bow tie. The shoes aren't so hard on the eyes either! I'm glad I waited on my first Swedish Hasbeens purchase when everyone else was getting them this past Spring, but I would eventually like to get a pair. They totally won me over with their story. . .

"Her name was Anita and she was the hottest mum in all of southern Sweden in the 1970’s. While smoking Camel she screamed at her kids until her curlers fell out and just looked fabulous in her white high-heeled clogs."

It's absolutely insane how much I love Venetia Scott right now. First I find all those wonderful street style photos on The Fashion Spot, then that lovely shoot she did with Orla Kiely, and now this (when did these come out?). My apologies to Adore Vintage for stealing these photos directly from her site, but I just had to.

I spent the day reviving my tumblr account (also called Cupcakes for the Eyes), posting nothing but great 70's inspiration, and desperately searching for any graphic sweater I could find on google images. Just when I was about to leave it alone for the evening, I saw these photos. It's funny how they incorporated the two things I spent my afternoon on.

I finally added some more pieces to the shop last night, but this time I went with a  60's/70's inspired theme! I know it's kind of a stretch from my own personal style, but when I first started thrifting for my store a couple years ago, this seemed to be the vintage I was drawn to. Maybe it's because it was so obviously vintage and easy for me to recognize, but whatever the reason, it's been hanging on my dress rack for way too long and desperately needs to find a home before Goodwill gets a hold of it. I priced everything super low for that reason. Most things are under $30! It seems like I get a lot of really retro pieces given to me too, either from friends parents or grandma's, or sometimes even because they saw it at the thrift store and thought about me. I never sell any gifts though! I'll only sell an item if they bought it with the intention of me putting it in the shop. When I posted these photos on Facebook last night (you should friend me, btw!) I had a girl offer to give me 25 vintage dresses that she was planning on dropping off at a thrift store. You already know what I said.

Since these looks were so far away from my style and since I was super duper busy leading up to this shoot, I got really lazy with the styling and put the girls in the same shoes and socks the whole way through. I'm a cheat and ripped the black shoe/sock combo off from the Orla Kiely fall lookbook, but then again, who could blame me?
