red bowler & photos of my honey

Thanks for all the advice on the header yesterday. In the end I decided to go with the illustration and the original background I put up last week. A lot of you have asked if I drew this girl or not, and as much as I am not an artist, I actually did draw this when I was bored to tears in one of my classes last semester. The original purpose was for my business cards, and since the card was going to say photographer/vintage seller/stylist, I wanted to incorporate those things
into one graphic. I guess it's sort of obvious, but just in case you didn't figure it out the girl in the drawing is supposed to be me.

I still haven't printed the cards though. Any recommendations on where I should do that? Online or local? In the coming weeks I'd like to fill my sidebar with different drawings too. I've got a few ready to go, but I've still got to work on a few more.

In other news, I thrifted a red bowler hat on Friday! I love bowlers and statement hats (if you could call it that), and I love what the vibrant red color did for an otherwise all black outfit.

Dress: Banana Republic via Saver's $13
Shoes: Rue 21 $30
Red Bowler: Thrift $3

These were actually taken on my anniversary which means I've got the photos of me and Jake edited too! It was the first time using my white backdrop, and it's obvious I got lazy with steaming out the wrinkles. To add to that mess, one of my light bulbs blew out as soon as I got the whole scene set and ready. So obviously the quality of the photos isn't great, but you get the picture; we're goofy.

Jake was a pain in the ass while we were trying to take these. He gets really really weird when the cameras on him and he doesn't know what to do; hence, the insanely retarded photos. He has already let me know that we will not be doing this again, but at least I have these funny photos to hang on to.

I have that radiohead shirt!

I got my cards printed at kinkos, but I was in a rush, I'm sure there are cheaper places.

Fantastic photos, both those with the red bowler and those of you and your boyfriend :)

And if you're looking for a place to print your cards, I've heard lots of praise about http://uk.moo.com/en/ - I'll definitely be using them for my own cards soon!

Oh, and the new background is adorable, as is the header. Nice job, darlin'!

Oh, I adore the red bowler, I have one too. It's one of my favorite hats.

I really need to get some cards myself but can never decide on what I want. I'm thinking I'm going to go really plain and just use my header for my blog and do a separate one for my shop.

Ha, I love the photos of you and Jake. Cole is the same way. He always tries to act silly and then I yell at him and then he gets mad at me. ;)

I love that hat and the dress that whole outfit is way cute, your honey is cute I can tell he doesn't like taking pictures and I defintely understand how he feels lol.

That hat really is a statement hat! I love anything red (it really looks great on us brunettes)!

Gavin is exactly the same way when I try to take photos of him! Which I totally don't get, since he is super social. But when he's in front of the camera he just turns into a weirdo freak.

Lovely outfit!!! I love your hat, the bright colour looks great next to the black dress! I love your hair too, it looks beautiful! Also, business cards are so much fun!! Amelia and I don't use ours that often, but its so much fun when someone asks about your blog and you can hand them a card, it makes it feel so official!! I would reccommend it literally just for the fun of being able to reply 'take my card' when your aunt asks about your hobbies.

The red hat looks great against the blue background. The header illustration is really good. Reminds me of a holly hobby book I adored as a child.

okay, so when i read the title of this post in my reader, i saw "honey" and though, "oh, she does bee keeping, too!" but now i get the "honey" part! i'm super shy, so i act goofy when i'm having my picture taken, too. it's just too hard to be serious!

LOVe the new header! is there any way you could tell me what font that is????

Hahaha, I think it is better to have a boyfriend with a sense of humour than a boyfriend who wants to get his picture taken. So, you win! These are adorable!

Oh my those pics of you and your boy are adorable! I recently found a red hat (a bit bowlerish, but not quite, more flapper) at my local vintage store and I may need to run back to see if it's still there.

Haha, I think the pictures are adorable!

I LOVE that red bowler! It is difficult to thrift nice hats here. They sold a bowler just like this at H&M last year and I was bummed to find out that I was too late for the red one - it was all sold out when I got to the store!

Love the hat. Ethan gets weird around cameras too and always makes weird photos. Yours are really adorable though!

Why do dudes always have to make funny faces when the camera comes out? Still, totally adorable none the less.

do all guys HATE having their picture taken? you know what you need to do...have friends snap random shots of you two together at parties and such. have them always be sneaky about it, or quick, like "hey guys," and you look over and bang. my guy has definitely had to get used to it over the years. it is nice to have a record of your love...photos are necessary! anyway, i LOVE the goofy ones, they're better this way anyway. and you look glamorous as hell in that drapey flowy dress.
