Pin Stripes & Chambray Stripes

Please don't think I'm stinky for wearing this skirt again so soon!

When I tried it on at American Apparel in Memphis I came out of the dressing room with an oh-no-this-is-so-cute-but-I-can't-afford-it look on my face to which my sister replied, "you need it". When I intensified that look to a come-on-do-I-really-need-anymore-clothes-to-pile-in-my-closet look she responded with, "STARR! You need it". This was quite shocking seeing as my sister usually shops with my bargain hunter frame of mind, so I took her advice and made off with the skirt.

It sat in my closet, untouched, for the first two months.

Those kinds of purchases always get me. How did I need something so bad to spend every last penny on it and then not even wear it when I got home? I used to do that way more than I do now, and luckily, this skirt didn't remain that way for too much longer. It may have taken two months to figure out how to style it and where to wear it, but now you can't get it off of me! I think I wore it three days this past week, and I have it packed in my suitcase to wear when I meet Rachel on Sunday. Yikes, that may be a little too much! I guess I was just saving it for summer.

Pin Stripe Shirt: Saver's $5
Skirt: American Apparel $40
Shoes: Saver's $6
Bow: From scrap fabric

I really like the way you've got stripes with stripes and the bow gives it a sort of school girl finishing touch. The skirt was def a good buy.

I'm totally the same way, no worries! But it's always vindication when you love it eventually, better late than never! I think this happens to me a lot too because I buy out of season stuff.

Have fun meeting Rachel. She's a peach! Excited to see your recap. Come to Chicago next!

You look sooo cute! I love AA items being styled in a way I would love to wear. (eg. not like their ads.)

I'm sure you could style that skirt in so many ways that it's worth the money. But I'm the same way if I can't justify the purchase, I don't get it or if I can't think of a whole outfit with the purchase on the spot I won't get it.

ehehe. I don't think you're stinky for wearing it multiple times. I do that too!

But, I do hate when I buy something I love and then end up not wearing it immediately. Especially when its as cute as this skirt!

I don't know if you'd checked Chictopia's rewards recently but they're now posting the item a week in advance and giving the exact time it will go open for redemption. It's a lot better in my opinion because if you really want something you can hover over your computer and click as fast as possible when you KNOW it's going up for redeeming!

I never had a chance to get anything on the old system, haha.

haha, i do the same thing every time i buy something new! i never used to, but now that i have the blog i feel like i want to "premiere" my favorite new items in special ways. it doesn't always happen, because eventually i just throw up my hands and throw an outfit on around it, but i think that's what trips me up. also, now that i have a full-time 9-5 office job i don't want to "waste" my cute clothes on weekday wear, so i have to squeeze my premieres into the weekend! it's so complicated! :)

I love this combination. Also, your shoes are so interesting and lovely.

Love the stripes together! That's quite a bit of money to spend on one item, but if you are wearing it that often, your price per wear will be so cheap, and then so worth it!
I love you on the swing, so pretty!

YES! I love the striped skirt, so glad you're wearing it again. And you pair prints I would never think to, but they always look great!

Now that I think about it, I had a swing like that in my neighbors yard when I was little...but I would always flip out of it! Haha, good memories.

The striped dress! I kind of can't get enough of it. It also made me rethink American Apparel clothing (even though they still have dubious ethics) because your skirt has the coolest vibe (it makes you look like a carnival beauty (and i mean that in the best way!!)) and usually their stuff is kind of a yawn, but that skirt is freaking awesome. My grammar in this comment sucks.

I love that skirt! I am also an extreme bargain hunter and try to get my clothes for as little money as possible but sometimes, when you see something you absolutely love, you just have to splurge :)
