Thrift Trip Magic

I think I'm starting to see a trend in my 'accidental' thrift trips here lately. I had to go the the university yesterday to meet with my adviser and discuss my fall schedule (ecstatic about my Intro to Scriptwriting course) which put me on the other side of town. It's a poorer area than most of the places I thrift, and therefore, it's kind of the crappiest Goodwill we have here in town. I really had no business stopping on my way home, but I'm weak and decided I'd run in and do a quick circle through the store.

I always go to the shoe section first, and yesterday my mind was blown when I saw that white pair of cutout oxfords sitting there. Why are these at Goodwill and not Urban Outfitters? And why on earth are they so clean??? No complaints though, other than the fact that they're too small and have to go to the shop.

The dresses were the next stop, and there they were, piled together, two pretty little white summer dresses. Dream dresses if you ask me! The one on the left is mine, oh mine, but the one on the right is just a little small. It's from the Gap, so I can't sell it in the Etsy shop, but I'll let you guys know when I'm offering it up if someone wants to just buy it from here.

The polka dot skirt needs no explanation, just a hem job and a cute pair of clogs, and the same goes for that pretty little floral number that sadly doesn't fit me either. Shop!

The lace blouse is quite possibly my favorite find though, believe it or not. The high collar and cuffs have little points all around giving it a very high fashion, designer feel, and I can't wait to play around with the styling.

Oh, and last but not least, that luggage the shoes are sitting in. I didn't find that at Goodwill but instead at my favorite bargain thrift store for $1.50!! Sometimes I can't believe what those people let me walk away with for such a great price. If you look close, you'll see my little Orla Kiely notebook from Gilt sitting in their too. I need to get more organized, so I thought a fancy notebook was a good way to get started!

Happy holiday weekend to you all! I'm dressed in a look inspired by the Twenty Seven Names collection on my way to visit the old, historic bath houses in Hot Springs, AR. Jake's from Hot Springs and will rarely do the touristy thing with me, but he's allowing it today. If we have time, we may go to the Gangster Museum too! Plenty of photos in store, I'm sure.

Thanks for sharing your thrift finds! It's mostly what I do on my blog, but I hardly ever see anyone else's lovely thrifted things! The train case is my favorite- I have a vintage Samsonite one just like it in the cream color :)

Wow!! Great finds!!! I love the luggage so much, and everything you've put in there. I've never seen something vintage like that with a mirror attached - very cool. The oxfords are freakin' fab :)

Don't hem that polka dot skirt. That's funny, Marissa of Marissa Knows It All just bought a very similar polka dot skirt from Goodwill and she was thinking of hemming it. Those cutout oxfords are AMAZING. Whoa. In love. I also love that floral dress, love the length of it and the print is beautiful. Oh I'll check it out in your shop :)

Love the shoes and the lace top. I like how you've got a bit of a romantic girly theme going on with your thrift finds.

I love the floral dress. It's like something I saw at Topshop but even better because it's the right length for fall's calf-length skirt trend.

As for thrifted polka dots skirts, it's always a question of hem re-dos. ;P

I need to find that Lula magazine one day. I think I am going to have to take a trip to the bookstore today. . .if they are open on a holiday. Anyway I have heard good tihngs about chicago! i've never been there, but one of my long-time friends moved there with her husband a couple years ago and she adores it. I hope you have an amazing time. There are lots of thrift shops there!
