I feel the same way. We spent a lot of time in Gulf Shores, too, and I'm worried for it.

We hear about the oil spill on the news but it feels much more real reading about how it affects some of you personally. I hope things work out somehow. : (

Oh Starr, it's posts like these that convince me (actually I don't need any convincing but I just wanted to use that phrase) that you're beautiful inside and out. On big holidays like this, I always can't help but think of how much work we still need to make America a place we're proud of. I know that makes me a downer in a lot of people's eyes, but I don't think there's anything more patriotic than remembering things like how we need to bring our troops home and how we need to clean up the Gulf if we want to feel proud of our country!

ha! you DO look pretty buff in this photo!

ya know...even if you'll never be able to experience the gulf with your children, the way you did as a child, at least you can share the memories with them and by then...you'll have NEW places to share with your children. and new memories to make!

the oil catastrophe in general is so unfortunate. let's hope for a solution soon...

ps. on a lighter note...the new site design is magnificent!

Aww I can understand if something like that happened in a place filled with cherishable memories. I live near the ocean, and if a huge oil spill occured in a place I've been to many times like that, I would have a hard time too. I'm very sorry that this has made you sad. It is good that you have your family to be with though!

That picture is awesome, Wonder Woman. . .I mean Starr.

i don't even know where to start about the oil spill. i used to go to boca grande and sanibel island in florida when i was younger because it's where my great grandparents lived, and my husband and i were planning our anniversary trip there this september because i haven't been in ages, and i'm so upset that it may be ruined because of the oil spill (along with all the other destruction that's being caused), so i understand how sad you feel :(
