New Blog & Venetia Scott

I meant to come back with this post yesterday, but instead I got a little carried away with changing my blog layout (again) and working on a new project. The layout is a keeper and the exact thing I've been looking for all along. Simple and neat. I liked the other layout too, but it wasn't very versatile for my ever-changing style. There were days that I didn't want to look at a cutesy girl in a peter pan collar dress!

I'm so excited to tell you about the other project I've been working on too. I've had it on my mind for months and months now, and I finally dedicated a whole day to getting it together. So here she is, my new little lady and blog number two, Cupcakes For The Eyes. Cupcakes For The Eyes is a place for all the things that inspire me. It's hard to keep up with all the great things I see on the internet, so I figured an inspiration blog would be appropriate. I suppose I could've just created a tumblr, I just find blogger a lot easier to design. My follower box is empty, so help me get that baby going!

Now to those photos I was talking about yesterday! I can't believe I implied they were shitty in that post because they're definitely not that, but I think you guys understood what I meant about just not being perfect. I love that the girls are in their own environments, leaning against cars and street signs with the occasional photographers shadow sneaking in. They're like 70's street style shots with the bouffant up-dos and retro colors in the scenery, and I'm all but drooling over that mustard dress with the wedges.

The photographer for this shoot is the incredible Venetia Scott who got her start in British Vogue, and eventually became the Creative Director for both Marc Jacobs brands. She's got some pretty incredible work, and a little Orla Kiely tweet told me that she is shooting one of the upcoming lookbooks for the label.

P.S. I've got a REALLY good giveaway coming later today, and a Pretty Sunday giveaway winner!

Oh, I remember this editorial! I fell in love with it when I first saw it. I actually used that first photograph as inspiration for my prom hair and dress (hehe).

I adore this new layout! I wish I were as gifted as you with graphic design skills. I've been trying to fix my layout for ages thru online tutorials, but I'm utterly miserable. I'm afraid my blog will have the same layout foreverrr.

Love the new look! I love editorials that look "accidental," too... it has its own aesthetic & genre now, sort of a sofia coppola/chloe/girls riding in cars with boys vibe. excited for the giveaway!

i totally see what you mean by these photos being imperfect...i often think about how photographers and models can make beautiful photos without sets and fancy lighting! i wish my photos looked this good next to a ratty ole car!

Ha! I have been changing my layout like crazy too. I loved the last one, yet, I understand what you mean. Simple is best for ever-changing styles.

P.S. I never said this but I thought the guest bloggers was such a great idea while you were at Bonaroo...another way to strengthen the fashion blogger community!

This blog looks so different! I got confused when i first clicked on it. : P

But you're so right. It is much more versatile for changing style. I can see why you would feel pegged in by the old header. Anyway good job. It is very neat to look at and not distracting from the content.

It looks very professional!

I like the new layout. Very simple and elegant. Great editorial too, I'm really loving anything with a 1970s vibe right now and I agree that the mustard dress plus wedges is a very covetable outfit.
