Preppy. (that word makes me think of Zach Morris)

I've been hanging on to this sweater every since the height of my obsessive sweater search back in December waiting for it's match to come along. It's perfectly preppy with gold buttons randomly placed on the shoulders and chest with a simple ribbed collar and black stripes that I secretly wish were navy. I guess that's the only not-so-perfect part about it since my idea of preppy is navy and white, but who can really tell the difference anyway (and why do I have such silly rules)? It was fashion matrimony once I rescued my khaki skirt from the office chair it had been banished to for the past few weeks. I finally brought the hem to a desirable length, and within a matter of minutes I had it styled with my neglected winter sweater! I guess it's kind of obvious that brown accessories rule my wardrobe too, it's just that I love brown so much and really couldn't picture this look with anything else.

Vintage Sweater: Saver's $6
Beret: Thrift $1
Vintage Skirt: Saver's $5
Socks: Estate Sale $1
Shoes: F21 $24

Cute outfit! Haha, I just wrote a post on the preppy skirt & shirt combos from NY fashion week and then I found your blog!

You look like you should be heading off to the club for a round of golf. You could always do something similar with saddle shoes. Or a shrunken blazer and a striped tie. Ooooh and a big bow headband ala Blaire Waldorf!

You know your name sounds like a pseudonym. People would die to have your name as their real name! Starr is very pretty and I like that there are 2 r's.

Yay we could be long lost twins!!! Could I please do a blogger feature on you please. I'll introduce you as my long lost twin! I probably won't be able to get to it soon... because I have a lot of my plate. But when I have the chance, I'll interview you, if you're interested!

What kind of video camera did you get? I haven't heard of Ellen von Werth, but I love the sound of whimsical and dreamy. I love Erin Fetherson, so sounds like something I'd appreciate. I'll check her out.

Are you a film student? :)

i'm loving those socks and i've never seen a more perfect bag for this outfit! i'm always so jealous of your great deals. nothing you're wearing was over $10 (except those f21 shoes that i'm still deciding whether or not to get - i'm so tempted).

oh man. Yeah I actually walked around in those shoes and I said to myself, "never again!" because they gave me a blister. It was just not fun. I hope that someone who CAN fit them will be able to enjoy them in every way. Right now I just look at them. . .rather than wear them.

Maybe you and I both got the same remote for our cameras. What type of camera do you use? I use a Pentax K100D, myself. I look forward to seeing more of your photos, but they are always wonderful to look at. I don't comment too much because I am sure your mailbox gets overloaded. I will try to do so more though now. Thanks for stopping by.

Somehow the colour brown looks so perfect on you, it tends to look dull and lifeless when I wear the colour lol! I love your preppy outfit too, you look like you came out of a retro magazine:)

everything about this outfit fits perfectly together. i love that sweater! "preppy" has kind of a negative connotation in my mind, but this interpretation is just slouchy & understated enough to demolish the uptight-big-bank-account stereotype i would otherwise assign to the term.

love love love this look. well played :)
