Christmas Dresses.

My Christmas Dress 2009.

I bought what was to be my Christmas dress nearly a year ago on ebay and I've been saving it for the occasion ever since. I'm not that good at holding onto special outfits, I usually end up giving in once I've worn all my newer clothes and I definitely don't think I've ever saved up for that long! To tell you the truth I did kind of give in a few weeks ago. I wore it out to Jake's graduation dinner at Ashley's which is the restaurant I work at and by far the nicest place he and I have ever eaten at (we were kinda overwhelmed by all the "extra" service-- valet, coat checks-- those sorta things). Jake laughed when I told him it was my Christmas dress, said there was nothing Christmas-y about it, but I had to disagree. I thought the lace was the perfect and most subtle holiday touch without having to give in to the traditional Christmas colors. Besides all that I'm absolutely in love with it. It's got such an Edwardian feel with the perfect 60's-ish length that I didn't even have to hem myself, and I'm almost certain the purchase was influenced by this dress.

my sisters christmas outfit!

And what's even more exciting is that my sisters outfit was even more adorable! I know I've featured her on here once before wearing the same sequin dress (she does have other clothes, I promise), but I thought I'd show it off again since she styled it so well for the holiday. Her red coat is a dream and I just love how full it is all the way around. It reminds me so much of the coat dresses made for little girls in the 40's and 50's. Then she added that big bowed, turban-ish hat for a little flapper influence and I was in love. Isn't she precious! She bought me the same exact hat about a month ago which I've still yet to wear but most certainly will after seeing her look so cute.

And you'll have to forgive me for all the pictures. I get so inspired every time I go out to my parents house, not to mention the excitement over my "new" dress, that Kristi and I kinda got carried away. It makes me wish that finding photo locations was always this easy, but the inspiration just isn't quite the same here in the city!

On me:
Vintage Dress: Ebay $28
Tights: Target $5

I love the dress! It reminds me so much of a dress worn by Zooey Deschanel in the photo gallery on the She & Him website... You look gorgeous and I can't believe you could wait a whole year to wear that. Strong-willed! Annie.
