in the kitchen with cupcakes

The folks at Francesca's Collections sent over some adorable cupcake paraphernalia, so Hannah G. and I decided to make an evening of baking. I'm challenged when it comes to most culinary things, but for some reason, I really enjoy baking. Even still, I'm not incredibly adventurous when it comes to out of the ordinary flavors, so I let Hannah take the reigns for this one.

She altered this Martha Stewart recipe by adding in some Basil Hayden's bourbon––though I'm sure Martha mixes in some booze too, even if it's not listed on the recipe; I've seen her on Conan enough to know––and some miniature Reece's cups.

Hannah drank some champagne, and I sipped on some ice wine while we waited for them to bake. Once they were done, we got impatient waiting for them to cool––as usual––and ended up sticking them under the vintage fan. They were ready in no time! For the icing, Hannah used a Tofutti cream cheese and a whole lot of lemon zest, and it ended be a little too zesty for me, so we made a separate batch without the lemon. We finished them off with some good old fashioned sprinkles, because duh, we were making cupcakes and who doesn't want sprinkles?

I wish you guys could've been there! There were plenty of extras to go around. The baking accessories from Francesca's were really cute and will hopefully inspire me to do stuff like this more often. We both had such a good time. And lucky for you guys, Francesca's is offering 30% off on one single item to all of my readers (code: "BLOSSOM"), so be sure to check it out while you have the discount!

Update: This is Hannah's amazing kitchen, not mine. In fact, her entire house looks this good! I wish I would've remembered to take more photos of it while I was there. Oh well, it's just another excuse to go back for more baking!
