Sorry I've been missing in action more than normal this week. I caught a bug on Monday night (my last day of school when I should have been celebrating) and was stuck on the couch with a migraine, moans, and a belly ache instead. All better now though! I've been dying to get take outfit photos, but I'm sticking to my word and holding off until that camera remote is in my hands. In the meantime I went out and shot some vintage hats to put up in the shop.
Anthropologie has been my main source of inspiration for catalog photography ever since I can remember, and I often find myself hoarding the old issues like their precious family jewels. Somewhere in the middle of all my sickness I pulled out the big stack of past issues that have been collecting in my room for the past two or so years and began flipping through them in search for the perfect shoe photography. I knew exactly what shoot I was looking for. I've had it in my head ever since I saw it last year, but when I was flipping through the pages another creative Anthropologie idea caught my eye. Maybe it's all those art history classes I've been taking and the in depth discussions of old Grecian and Roman sculptures, but this particular idea charmed me more than anything else I saw.
I decided to borrow it.

Unfortunately, Jake and I are far from fancy. The only sculptures we have lying around the house are two pieces he did for his ceramics class a couple years ago. One is an octopus tentacle we have greeting our guests at the front door, and another is a bust he did of his favorite person in the world: the Dude. That's right my friends. Jake's Big Lebowski obsession is a pretty big part of his life, so much so that he choose to spend many, many hours creating a bust of Jeff Bridges. Everyone that passes through our house thinks it's Jesus which makes it even more hilarious when they finally figure out who it is. Seeing as this was the only thing I owned that even came close to the Anthropolgie sculptures, I carried this heavy thing out into a field to have him model my vintage hats. His head is far too big for these ladies hats, but I'm willing to bet you get the idea.
Pause for an A.D.D. interruption. BEE AT WORK!
