Ritz Motel

Dress: Hannah's
Hat: Target
Jodhpur Boots: c/o Swedish Hasbeens

The best part about long breaks from school is all the extra time I get to spend with my friend Hannah Keen. We're very like-minded ladies, so when school's in session and I don't get to see her often, I miss her terribly. Yesterday we got together for some pictures near one of my favorite old signs in the city. The area is pretty run down and on a very busy street, but we got it done safely! The only trouble we ran into was with the hotel manager.

He came running over to us outside at some point, screaming about how he had had enough of us. He said that we needed to leave before he called security. He wasn't nice about it at all, and it might be because when we went in to ask about rates for the rooms and inquired as to whether there was vintage furniture, Hannah accidentally said "how much do you charge per hour?" Ha! We just wanted to take pictures. Who knows what he thought about us and what we were doing.

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that Hannah got some really exciting news earlier this week. Her mom sneakily submitted some of the photos I've taken of her to a local modeling agency, and they loved them! She's now a signed model looking for work. I'm so proud of her!

I can't wait to share the photos she took of me yesterday. I think she's a really great photographer too!

Hannah

Here's the video I shot of my friends Hannah and Paden. Same set up as before with the iphone app 8mm, except this time we set it on the 70s filter. I edited it in imovie and put it to David Sitek's, 'With A Girl Like You". Paden was using the Brownie Hawkeye during this film, but because the lens was so dirty, he was pretty much shooting blind. We're just hoping for at least one photo to turn out okay!

Housewarming BBQ

The housewarming BBQ we had on Sunday was such a great way to kick off the summer. It was the first time Jake and I had hosted a party in ages and maybe the first time we'd ever hosted a party with food. I guess we've never really had a good house for parties until now. Because I'm so oblivious when it comes to the kitchen and because I'd never cooked for so many people before, I relied on Brittney to help me plan the menu. In the end, it was pretty basic Southern things: burgers, mashed potatoes, macaroni, salad, deviled eggs, and baked beans. I can't take all the credit though. So many friends were calling to see if they could bring something to help me out, so I recommended that they bring either an appetizer or a dessert. Needless to say, we ended up with more food than we could handle.

Jake built a horseshoe pit in the backyard, and I bought some vinyl car wash bunting to stream across the fence and the carport. Lots of people brought their dogs (which probably ended up being the highlight of the party). Monkey wasn't a fan of all the activity, so she greeted people on the front porch as they arrived. The weather was cool when we woke up, but by the time friends started showing up, it was sitting at 70ยบ; the perfect grillin' weather. You never know about that sort of thing. Rain can make or break an outdoor party, so I was happy to see it turn out so well.

It was also nice to see so many of my favorite faces in one place. Everyone was so sweet and told me that they loved the new place, and Marisa even told me that it looked like it should be on Design Sponge; that made me smile. And now that all of the friend festivities are behind me, I should be able to go around and get photos for the blog soon too. Look for a house tour to come!

Photos by me and Corey!
