Galaxy Girl

Tank: Maurice's (years ago)
Galaxy Skirt: c/o Romwe
Denim Jacket and Necklace: Thrift
Platforms: BCBG via Smart Bargain

Here's a few photos that Corey took of me during a recent adventure. I wore one of the most amazing galaxy print hi-lo skirts that Romwe sent me last month. It's a little short on me, but I layered it with a pair of Soffee shorts and went about my day. Probably one of my favorite outfits that I've worn in a while!

Greenville

Tank & Skirt: American Apparel
Sunglasses & Tote: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: c/o Wanted Shoes

Here's a few photos my friend Heather shot of me in a small town outside of Denton, TX. We drove through downtown Greenville late one night on our way into Denton and fell in love with all the old buildings and houses sitting on the edge of the main rode. It instantly reminded me of some of those old towns I pass through on the way to visit my grandma down in Mobile. We made a point to pass back through on our way home to see it up close in the sunlight.

That day brought the bluest skies and the fluffiest clouds––the kind my art teacher would've called Baroque––and I fitted myself in some of the easiest clothes you could think to wear on a road trip, most of which I had purchased in Dallas earlier that week. The day was perfect, and the road trip ended up be pretty great too.

In other news, I'm going to extend the iconemesis giveaway an additional week because I made a mistake when posting it originally, so if you want to win a new iphone case, be sure to comment here before next Thursday. Also, I wanted to give a shout out to my pal Lori for featuring me on her blog in her Why I Blog Wednesday segment. Read it here if you'd like!

Mt. Holly (again and again)

Blouse: Thrift (similar one here)
Skirt: BCBG (similar one here)
Hat: Miss Selfridge (similar one here)
Bugle Brooch: Etsy (similar ones here and here)
Shoes: c/o Wanted Shoes
Kate Sheridan Bag: c/o Modcloth (similar ones here and here)

This is one of those dreadful photo-heavy posts that I try to avoid as much as possible, but sometimes Corey and I get on a roll and we start having so much fun and forget all about what we're doing or how many photos we've already taken. As some of you may know, I love spending afternoons at Mt. Holly Cemetery. I'm not morbid in a Harold and Maude kind of way––though I love that movie to the core––I just enjoy the peacefulness of it all, walking around admiring all the aging stones. It's especially lovely in the spring when the flowers are blooming and the sun is out past 6. During the winter the cemetery closes at dusk so there's never much time to visit, but in the spring and summer we've got all the time in the world.

If you live in or around Little Rock and ever need a temporary retreat from the world, I would definitely recommend visiting Mt. Holly. Take a book or a camera, or just show up with nothing at all and take a nap in the beautiful weeds. You'll enjoy it. I promise.

Dogs will eat anything.

Vintage Dooney & Bourke Purse & Blouse: Thrift
Skirt: American Apparel
Jamison Ankle Boot: c/o Dolce Vita
Musket Necklace: c/o With Care
Friendship Bracelet: c/o Jewel Mint

I skipped class this morning because our puggle Louie ate an entire jar of petroleum jelly, and I wanted to make sure he was okay. The label says to seek poison control if swallowed,  but after doing some googling–– "my dog swallowed [insert chemical]"––we decided that he just needed some food and water and a morning outdoors. So far everything seems okay.

With the extra time on my hands I thought I'd update the blog with some photos my sister took for me last week. I honestly don't remember where I wore this outfit now, probably just to class, but I do remember feeling comfortable! The boots are so easy to walk in and I don't feel silly wearing them on campus even though they have a little heel. They're great.

I'm glad I finally found a chance to photograph this musket necklace that Elizabeth Novack sent me from her etsy shop, With Care, too. I'm in love with the necklace and all of the military medals, scouting accolades, and Cracker Jack prizes she sells. I especially love the new arrow cocktail rings in her shop! I've gotta remember to buy one of those soon.

i'm wearing shorts

Blouse: Jason Wu for Target
Shorts: Miss Selfridge
Vintage Coach Purse: Thrift
Hat & Boots: Target
Zipper Bracelet: c/o Jewel Mint

Here's another outfit that Corey and I shot this week. I bought these shorts at the end of the summer last year but never found the chance to photograph them until now. It's strange that it ended up happening in February!

I mentioned that the weather has been off this winter season, but this week had to be the most bizarre of all. Most, if not all, of the days reached 70 degrees, and some even topped out in the mid 80s. Tornadoes were blazing through the midwest and blizzards were hitting the north! It's hard to make sense of it all. It has been nice photo-taking weather though. . .

Monday in red.

Blouse, skirt, and purse: Thrifted
Boots: Target

Last week I spent a lot of time working on various photography projects. I spent one afternoon photographing my fifteen-year-old niece in the most beautiful abandoned building owned by the state health center. There was a greenhouse full of old park benches and a building with an old chalkboard and minty green walls. I can't wait to see the photos! I'll be sure to share them once I get them developed.

My parents had a bbq at their house on Sunday, and I went and took my nieces and nephews on golf cart rides around the yard and chased the geese with my one-year-old niece! I also took senior pictures of my oldest nephew in his letterman jacket which was weird because a) I can't believe he's graduating and b) I don't typically shoot senior pictures. It was fun though. I was glad to spend time with everyone.

This is the outfit that I wore yesterday. I did some things around the house in the morning, then got dressed for a trip to the mall to get some new things from Sephora. It was completely unintentional that I dressed like their logo. When I received my bag at the register, I realized that it looked like an accessory to my outfit! I felt pretty silly.

Cowichan

Sweater: Sally Jane Vintage
Blouse: Stifft Thrift
Jeans: J Brand via Rue la la
Boots: Thrift
Hat: Saver's
Argus Camera: Gift from Lee

If you've been following my blog for long, you may remember my enthusiastic rants on animal sweaters a few months ago. I was obsessed with anything animal related, and more than anything else in the world, I wanted one of those glorious Cowichan sweaters!

It was sort of a given that I would snatch this one up when I saw it on Jennifer's blog, Sally Jane Vintage. She always lists the best stuff in her shop, but I can never seem to get my hands on anything that I want because it's such a popular place. On this particular day, I made it just in time!

That's been at least a month now, and I've been wearing it like a dirty hippy ever since. Of all the warm and cozy sweaters in my closet, nothing compares to this one! It's super warm, super stylish, and it fits in nicely with my ridiculous western phase. As much as I've worn it, it's shocking that I haven't taken any pictures of it until now.

This is sort of unrelated, but while we're on the topic of new things, I wanted to tell you a little bit about my new J Brand jeans, too! I neeeever spend a lot of money on jeans – I've been wearing the F21 $12.90's for ages now – but this year I made a point to invest in some. J Brand's are normally priced around $180, but I found these on Rue la la for an amazing $80.
