Snow Sledding, Indian Ponchos, and Gifs!

This past weekend Arkansas got more snow than we've seen in a couple years. It was actually more ice than snow and it totaled in at about an inch or two, but with our state being so ill prepared for winter weather, these type occurrences turn into major grocery store freak outs with plenty of waisted hours spent walking around. Lucky for us my sister found a vintage sled at Salvation Army back in November that we were able to take out in search of the steepest, snowy hills.

The sled was actually kind of pricey for a donation store ($20 I think), but it really is the coolest thing and it's dated sometime in the 70's (I can't remember). It reminds me of the one Kevin used in Home Alone when he took a flight down the stairs and out the front door!

We started off on this wimpy hill, and within five minutes we were looking for a bigger challenge.

In came this hill! I don't know why, but the hills at the Clinton Library are like black diamonds at the ski slopes. They're steep and tall, and they shoot right out into the river. Yikes! This one area where everyone was sledding was actually the only place where a gate was posted. No spills into the river for us.

Here I go....

It was like a roller coaster! So incredibly fun, and a little scarier on a tarp.

Finally an excuse to wear my vintage poncho/cape thing too. I've had it for some time, just never really had a reason to wear it. It did keep me quite warm! The whole day was a blast, but it doesn't take long for us southerners to realize we're not cut out for this. I honestly thought I was going to lose my toes at the end of the day, and I'm sure our conditions were nothing compared to what some of you endure all winter.
