Dedicated to the South.

I've been going through an extreme blues and rockabilly stage in music lately, listening to lots of 50's and 60's tracks. I've been trying to think of a clever way to share it with you, and when I found 8tracks website yesterday I knew I finally had the proper medium. I put together a small mix full of my favorite tracks. It's as southern as can be and may make you crave a road trip through the Mississippi Delta! You can listen to it here.

The event I worked last night was an awards ceremony in honor of all the major contributors to the Oxford American foundation. Oxford American is a highly respected literary magazine that features great writing and culture including music, photography, food, film and art. It's been regarded as the Smithsonian of the south by the New York Time's. It's really quite spectacular, and I've been riding a wave of excitement ever since I found out about it. It ties in so well with the feeling I've been trying to create with this blog and to discover that the headquarters is located at my old university just twenty minutes away was even more thrilling.
