Wendy Bevan

Wendy Bevan in The Independent, May 2010

Just a little sweetener for your morning here. I don't know how Wendy Bevan does it, but everything she touches turns to gold. I think she's sheer genius. And whoever made that pink gingham dress, also a genius. I would never wear it, but I think it's incredible.

I'll be back in a bit with a dress for the shop!

Ellen Rogers & thoughts of Wendy Bevan

I found these breathtaking photos on Alice's blog, Alice In Wonderland, after following a link in the "recent online press" section of Wendy Bevan's photography website. I thought for sure they belonged to Wendy Bevan at first, mostly because of the rich color and artistic distortion, but after looking around a bit I found they were actually done by a photographer named Ellen Rogers. What I love most about her work is that it's done with nothing but analog equipment with no digital shots and no photoshop touch ups; every effect is the result of darkroom experimentation (what one of my old man, former photographer friends, Gus, calls "real" photography). I think it's safe to say that Ms. Rogers has secured her spot as one of my favorite photographers right their next to the amazing Wendy Bevan. Both these ladies sure know how to inspire!
