Feathers & The DD

Today I'm posting on the Delightful Dozen blog! Instead of photographing a new look, I went back into my archives and dug up some favorite photos of my feather dress from Sally Jane Vintage. Quite a few of the other girls have styled it too, which made for a nice collection of photos for the post!

Come visit me there!

Delightful Dozen Day

I'm posting on the Delightful Dozen blog today! You can read more about the inspiration behind this outfit over there. Corey and I took these photos in a lush field near the Arkansas River last week. The weather and lighting we're perfect. We used a new lens that I thrifted for $20 at an antique mall. It's a 80-210mm f/4.5-5.6 telezoom, so now Corey can shoot from real far away. We're excited about it!

Come visit me at the Delightful Dozen blog! xo.

Delightful Dozen: Bows in the Front

In case you missed the Delightful Dozen launch party yesterday, here's a little recap of what I wore! It's an outfit from the summer of 2009, but if you'd like to read more about it, you'll have to visit me over there. You can also check out ALL my fellow DD's posts –– can you believe we all posted in the same place, on the same day –– and some of the awesome giveaways that we posted –– one is to Urban Outfitters and the other to Threadsence. We had such a great time yesterday, and I want to thank all of my readers who made their way over to the party! You guys are the best.

Meanwhile, while the online party was going down, I was hanging out with the beautiful Vanessa of The Velvet Bird! This girl is so drop dead gorgeous inside and out, but I'll share more about her and all the things we did in just a little while. For now I'm off to edit the few photos we took in my living room. Be back soon!

I can't remember if I announced it at the time, but I few weeks ago I was invited to join the Delightful Dozen, a team of 12 girls involved in a continuous clothing swap. As sad as I was to see Kristin from Leproust Vintage go – I think her presence has certainly been missed here in the 'ole blog-O-sphere –I was happy to be voted into the open spot! For my very first DD piece, Beatrice sent over this great Tucker for Target dress.

I've had so many other things to talk about on my blog, that I think I also forget to introduce my new photographer! His name is Corey and he pretty much loves everything about going out to take pictures for me. No worries for Team Jake though, Corey's gay so he's not going to try to steal me away or anything! He's taken the last couple of sets of photographs for me and, so far, we're both pretty thrilled with the results. I'm introducing him to my DSLR and teaching him a lot about lighting, and he's helping me by relieving my life of a tripod and a remote. Photoshoots have been so nice and quick lately, and I've been able to take pictures in places I would never go alone! I definitely wouldn't have been able to achieve these photos without him.
