American Week

Dress: Etsy
Blouse & Shoes: Saver's
Hat: Miss Selfridge
Feather Ring: c/o With Care
Necklace: Modcloth

Last 4th of July I was overly patriotic with my fashion. I wore a red blouse with a white sailor collar during the day, a navy anchor print swimsuit for an afternoon dip, and a red, white, and blue sailor dress for the evening chill. This year, I forgot to pack any of that stuff.

I didn't exactly forget, I was just in a haste when Jake and I finally decided that we'd spend the night with his folks down in Hot Springs. Their house is the best place to go for a summer holiday, as it's set right on the edge of a very popular lake, Lake Hamilton. They've got a nice deck with rocking chairs that we spend most of our time on, looking down at all the skiers and tubers riding by.

I  guess I felt bummed about not dressing for the holiday, because I've been making up for it all week by wearing nothing but nautical and patriotic-themed garb. One night I even wore my sailor dress to the bar before realizing that it was punk night. Most people were wearing black (lots of Ramones t-shirts) and the last band even brought skulls on the stage. I was kind of out of place, but I didn't really mind.

My friend Cody came by to play catch up the other day, and we spent some of our time taking pictures in my slightly American-themed den. He said, "I just realized that each wall of your place is like a scene for pictures." I told him that he was finally on to me.

I love how you've decorated your your house, excellent bunting. Also is that a chambray dress I see? Looks sweet with the gingham blouse.

Would you tell us where your shoes are from? I can't find wedges anywhere and I noticed people liked them too. I see so many cute bloggers with great shoes but they're almost always thrifted or expensive... I'd buy some expensive ones if I could find great neutral ones. So, did I miss that you said where they were from?
