Field Work

Dress: UO
Hat: Target
Necklace: Thrift

I went to hang out with my friends Paden and Hannah yesterday after work. We've had a vintage camera date set for about a week, and it's all I've been able to think about. Ever since my boss gave me all those vintage cameras in the winter, I've been wanting to buy some film to use them.

Paden's been playing with his cameras a lot lately and asked if I'd like to tag along to watch him load the film and to act as a subject for his photos. We shot 3 rolls in all, two black & white and one color. We used a Brownie Hawkeye for one roll of black & white, and the other two rolls went in an antique Kodak No. 2 Folding Cartridge Premo.

Since each shot was so precious (we had about 28 in all), we wanted to make sure our poses were perfect. My camera battery died, but luckily Paden had a digital camera handy too. We shot some in color and some in black & white to see how the light would react to where I was standing and to the dress I was wearing. The dress pretty much ruled the show! It was made for the light. I think my tumblr archive had a huge influence on both the purchase of this dress and the style of the photos we shot. Mainly this photo comes to mind.

We also shot a video with my iPhone, which I really like despite the fact that it was shot with such a simple camera. I'll share that with you tomorrow. Then I've got some photos and video of Hannah to share in the coming days too.

Starr, what beautiful photos! I've been meaning to leave you a comment for ages but I don't have internet in Paris right now, and I keep having to stop at this funny little cafe where a woman comes in at night and gives tarot card readings to check blogs and then I never have time to comment, so consider this comment a hello hello hello you are beautiful and your photographs are always wonderful and just pretend that I have been leaving you these comments all along like I wanted to!

Here's to a great and beautiful start of summer!

Can't wait to see your films when you get them developed! I love film photography so much but I'm definitely still a learner. I just saw the pictures of all those vintage camera you got given... that's actually amazing, I think I would almost cry if someone gave me all of those haha.
