About the Weekend

Vintage Dress: Ebay
Satchel: c/o Romwe
Ring: Gift from Mom
Steve Madden Oxfords: Dillard's

It seems like Jake and I did a lot more than usual over the weekend. Saturday we met his family for lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant. We brought them back to see our new place when we finished, and Jake's mom surprised me with a pretty embroidered clutch and some vintage shirts that she thought I might like. I think she must have been reading my blog, because they're all cream-colored and beautiful and just my style. She also gave me a book that she found at a friends estate sale called A Pictorial History of the Silent Screen. It's a really great documentation of the silent film era that's mostly movie stills and glammed-up portraits of some of my all-time favorite stars. I love it. I'll have to remember to do some scans one day!

I worked late Saturday night which caused me to sleep in on Sunday morning. I lounged for a while, rewatched The Parking Lot Movie for the third time, cooked a big lunch of lemon butter grilled chicken with spinach, tomatoes, and yummy mashed potatoes. I somehow convinced Jake to take my pictures Sunday afternoon which was great because it saved me a ton of time and the stress of dealing with the heat. It's funny when he takes my pictures because he'll take about fifteen before even stopping to see how they're turning out. It took a second to get on track, and once we did, he kept thinking we were done.  I'd have to say "what about my purse? and my shoes? and my ring?" He rolled his eyes and smiled and tried his best to be a good sport. I appreciated it.

Sunday evening we played basketball with our friends Jared and Amy before heading to Kroger to round up some things to for the grill. The last game of the NBA playoffs was coming on, and the boys were excited. I had a hamburger and some baked beans and another rum and coke. It was fun.

P.S. Remember those interchangeable rings that were cool in eh, the late 90s? I brought one of those back for this post! Mom got it for me when I was in jr. high, and I still have all the different colored balls. Tell me you remember those!

That bag is incredible! It looks like one from Modcloth I've been swooning over lately. I need big bags to fit all my crap in and that looks like you could squeeze a lot in there?

Also that lunch you cooked up sounds divine :)

Very pretty dress. I love when you wear such dresses. That ring is so nice too. parking lot movie, hmm. interesting!!! That is cute that you had to remind him to take photos of your purse, shoes, ring, etc. when I have my husband take photos of me, I do that too because he thinks 2 shots is enough which to me is not. I'll say, "make sure you get a full-body photo, a close up, get shots of my jewelry too." etc. That's nice that Jake did this for you. Lemon butter grilled chicken sounds delicious.
