We've been in the new place for less than a week, and I'm already almost done unpacking. I can't rest when there's boxes everywhere, not knowing where anything is. And besides i. love. decorating. I couldn't wait to get everything into place! We're now in a much bigger spot, and it's nice not feeling so stuffed. We went from having one room, a tiny office, a giant living room, and no storage to having two rooms, an office, a living room, a den, an attic, AND a garage. We're so happy!
I'm reading a book about everyday living in the 1860s and 70s, and the chapter I'm on now is talking about the houses and how almost everyone had a parlor in the front. The author describes it as a pretentious sitting room that hardly got used unless they had company. Since we have a big den in the back with wooden walls and heavenly lighting, I decided to keep the front room pretty simple (since we don't really need it), mostly for sitting and listening to vinyl. And (as pretentious as it might be) I insist on calling it a parlor. :)

What a gorgeous space you've set up! I'm definitely using some of these pictures as inspiration. Very pretty. :)
It looks like the house is coming together so well! Congrats on the move. I can't wait to see it when everything is decorated and in the right place. You have a great eye for it!

wow! your place looks spectacular!! ^,^
Your house looks like an amzing and inspiring plcae :) all the luttle deco material! i adore it :) x
It is coming along so nicely! I have this slight addiction to moving simply for the opportunity to decorate and re-decorate. It feels so good to be in a new, fresh place that identifies with the current place you are in life.
wow your place looks amazing. i love that you have a parlor! :]
your place sounds (and looks) like a dream!
Your house looks gorgeous!! The wood walls, the general Americana/sepia toned loveliness, your enviable parlor... so amazing <3
looks like you have great stuff and a great house! really like the wood walls, always nice not to have to add to much decor or paint and still feel homey.
also, those boots and loafers are two of my dream shoes!

It looks fantastic! Are those rulers or paint stirrers in that can? That is my favorite detail.
that's it, i'm moving in.
your place looks stellar. I am the same way when it comes to unpacking, i cant relax until everything is in its proper place
I'm truly looking forward to the full house tour once you're done, the space looks positively intriguing and I'm particularly enchanted by your idea of a parlor.

Nicely done. Looks very warm and homey.
I love the printer's tray.
What's the name of the book? That sounds like something I would like to read.
pretty! i could easily live there... :)))
Oh! These photos are simply gorgeous! What a beautiful place you have. I love your sense of style!
Oh Starr, this is the cutest and most inspiring home ever!! I would probably die a little inside to know how much you pay in rent for a place like that. Our little one bedroom apartment in the city is SO over priced it's kind of disgusting. You seriously make me reconsider living in the city though. Your decorating is out of control awesome. All your sweet touches are just perfect and seem really "you". Thanks so much for sharing your personal space with us. Really really fantastic.
XOXO
Starr, I am a fairly new follower and feel compelled to leave you a comment about how beautiful your living space is....your decor is so reminiscent of a 70's home, one of my favorite era's. Drop in sometime and say hello...Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo
