Abandoned Haunts

Shirt, Skirt, Belt: Goodwill
Samsonite Luggage: Flea Market
Necklace: Modcloth

Corey and I revisited the abandoned building that I mentioned a few weeks ago. We've been waiting for a sunny day to align with some extra free time before bothering to go back. Last time we went, when we first discovered that the back door was unlocked, it was a dark and gloomy day. We already knew that pictures wouldn't turn out under those circumstances.

What I failed to mention the first time I wrote about the building is what it used to be. I expect that most of you will think I'm crazy once I tell you, but my response to that is a) Corey made me do it and b) my adventurous spirit got the best of me. You can barely even tell that it's an old funeral parlor from the outside. Other than the vintage sign that's hanging in the front yard that reads "Funeral Parlor", it's a pretty regular place. Once you get inside, there's no such evidence of that.  All you can really tell is that nature has been in charge of the decorating for a long time, with an occasional bum stopping through to borrow shelter. It's set in a white stucco building with a flat roof and three arches at the entrance. Vines are crawling up the right side, jumping into windows and clinging to the pews inside. Oh yeah, there were pews. I guess I lied about the "no evidence" thing. There were no caskets or bodies which was my greatest fear.

Corey and I were there for about thirty minutes, taking pictures and freaking ourselves out every time the wind would sound an uncomfortable noise at the end of the hall. It was really a neat (and well lit) place. I took a few props to make things a little more interesting.

In other ghostly news, I think my new house is haunted.

Creepy place! I love the props you used. I'd be scared shitless if it were me in there!! Haha! Thank god you had someone with you. And its interesting that you may be living somewhere really haunted. I lived in what i and my sister to believe a haunted house. It was unsettling at times but you learn to deal with it. So what's happened to make you think its haunted?

Wow, I really wish we had abandoned buildings. I really don't think that it is all the creepy that is used to be a funeral home. But then again, I really don't believe in ghosts or anything so, it wouldn't freak me out. :)

I love how fresh and cute these pictures look-- not at all morbid or goth, as it easily could've gone. Even though I'm a notorious abandoned house explorer myself, a funeral parlor might've been a bit much for me, haha! You're brave!

Oh Starr, this place looks dreamy, funeral home or no funeral home! Really wish we had more run down buildings like this here in London to explore but alas no. Love your outfit here too. Sally x

Nature has definitely been in charge for a while... but those are often the best places for atmospheric photos. : )

Lucky you! I adore abandoned buildings. I find them strangely romantic. All the ones I've come across local to me have been boarded up.

also, your blog is stunning!

I love this backdrop for photos! I am sure you were happy you were there when it was light outside, otherwise I think it would have been much scarier!

So why do you think your new house is haunted?? I'm so curious!

Ah, this is great! I've been in lots of abandoned houses, but none of them have been funeral parlors. Lovely photo shoot!

So, cool! So, about your house possibly being haunted, do tell more...

Lovely outfit! I am definitely a fan of all of your abandoned building photos, so when I read this was a funeral parlor, I was intrigued. Its interesting to look at old buildings from both perspectives, what they were used for and what they are now. Beautiful lighting inside as well.

I used one of your old photo shoots from a year ago for some inspiration on my blog! One of my favorite shoots you have done.
