Shannon

I took photos of my friend Shannon last week. It reminded me of how much I miss taking pictures. The model side of things is fun, but if I had to choose, I'd pick a day behind the camera in a heart beat. We've been trying to plan a shoot for many months now, but plans kept falling through. Luckily there's a thing called spring break!

Shannon and I are actually pretty new friends. I met her on the job (kinda), while I was scouting the streets of Little Rock for Sync photos. It was my very first trending article, and I was writing about capes. Problem was, I couldn't find anyone wearing one! That's when I found Shannon wearing a vintage knit poncho/cape. We've been friends ever since.

The day of the shoot, Shannon text to say that she was worried about modeling because her knees were covered in bruises from a show the night before. I thought, 'oh, I'm sure they're fine', and told her to come anyway. I had a cute floral dress and the most summery accessories picked out for her. When she arrived and showed me her knees, I realized that she was serious. She couldn't model with those bruises! They were the kind that go through every color of the sunset before they finally fade away. Apparently, she was in the front row at the show, getting shoved against the stage (which happened to stop at the knees). Her polka dot dress was cute anyway, and I liked that it was a spitting image of Julia Robert's 'day at the races' dress in Pretty Woman. Ironically, it kinda matches the last post, too.

i love her lipstick, and her hair is fab. this sounds super weird, but i actually think she sort of looks like me. am i insane? she has that super light skin and naturally sort of blonde hair... and her features are similar. i haven't ever really thought anyone looks like me before either!

Oh no, it's too bad about the bruises! You have some beautiful shots, but they sound pretty painful. Hope they heal up soon. :o

aww poor bruised lady! that's never fun. I bruise REALLY easily in my legs but my dresses are always long enough. I bump into things so often haha. She looks amazing and I love her outfit a lot and these photos you took of her are great.

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful dress! I'm so hooked on brown and white at the moment. In fact, I ordered a playsuit off asos a couple of weeks ago (it arrived today!) and it is the same sort of print, though obviously not vintage! Major dress love!

What lovely photos. Excellent jot. I adore that dress, and I agree about the Pretty Woman comment. My favorite photo would have to be the one where she is wearing the elegant hat and looking over her shoulder with that brilliant sun on the face. Also, I must tell you how much I enjoy following your blog. Keep up the excellent work, miss.

at first i thought this was the same dress but then I scrolled down to see that, while both brown with polka dots, they're entirely different. both are fantastic and I love the different straw hats on both. Your pictures are beautiful!
