Museum Florals

Cardigan, Blouse, Shoes, Purse: Goodwill
Skirt:  Magpie & Birdie yard sale
Belt: Saver's

Here's the Sync photos from the lawn of the Old State House museum that I promised. I used an old botany lithograph for my inspiration, and well, this may have been the easiest "inspired by" look yet since the print was a near perfect match to this skirt already. You can read the article here if you'd like.

I didn't get any great establishing shots of the museum, but you may remember it from last weeks Hetterson photos. I promised some fun history facts, so here we go:

The Old State House served as the backdrop for both of Bill Clinton's presidential wins in 1992 and 1996. Apparently it's his favorite building in Arkansas, too! He also held a few cabinet meetings there.

Inside, in a dark preservation room, there's about 30 inagural gowns from all the different first ladies in Arkansas' history. I must have stared at the two Edwardian pieces for twenty minutes. There was Mrs. Robinson's gown from 1913 and Mrs. Hays' gown, also from 1913 –– I wonder why Governor Robinson left office so quickly? There were so many interesting details to gawk at. The flapper gown was quite a sight, too! This photo from sometime in the 50s shows a lady re-beading some of the 4000 rhinestones on it.

And that's just in one room of the museum. I'll find a way to talk about the cowboy paraphernalia, the courtroom scandals, and the Bonnie & Clyde spottings soon!

I am such a fan of museums especially local history ones. We have one in our hometown in the historic district and I love going into it. Its actually next to our General Store that sells old time candy and cards.
