Ellen Rogers meets the Great Depression

60s Tunic: Delightful Dozen via Annie
Vintage Headpiece & Collar: Thrift
Vintage Coat: Blue Suede Shoes Antique Mall
Skirt: AA
Tights: Zara
Vintage Loafers: Saver's

I didn't get to talk much about the new layout the other day, but I wanted to make sure I took the time to thank Tabitha Emma for her help with the balloon graphic and Jake for answering all the tiny design questions and opinions I asked along the way! It's quite refreshing to enter the new year with a new layout, and it's given Corey and I a renewed energy for our photo adventures. Thanks to everyone who has written to tell me that they like it. It means a lot to us!

One of my goals for the new year is to strive for quality over quantity with my blog content. My school schedule will be the heaviest it's been since starting the blog, and I may not have extra time for tumblr or even to post some of my favorite collections, but I promise to keep posting outfits when I can!

Another goal I have for the new year is to start experimenting more with photography and photoshop editing. I figure since I have all the tools I need I might as well start using them! Today's set was inspired by the always amazing analog photographer, Ellen Rogers. Her experimental darkroom techniques are really exquisite, and though I'm just a photoshop fraud, I couldn't help but try my hand at her style of work.

This was the first time in a looong time that I had to use my tripod. Corey was unavailable that day, and I had an itch to go take some photos. I was going for an Ellen Rogers meets the Great Depression thing here, hence the title and the really dusty looking pictures!

These are so beautiful, you never fail so inspire me!

Do you use Lightroom? I've just started using it, it was quite annoying to get used to but now I would totally recommend it.

Happy New Year x

These are lovely! Can you spare some secrets on what filters you used on Photoshop to get these effects? I love this style, and would love to implement it into the photography I do as a freelancer/as my hobby as well as my job :)

This is a delightful look, a great use of that tunic I've seen making the rounds, and absolutely fantastic photo editing. You really have one of the most creative and readable blogs out there. Oh, and I love the balloon!

Uh, this is awesome. I love the top and the lace collar! Very cute.

And your new layout is very cool. Makes me really wish I had access to better resources here to remake my own layout. Alas, I shall have to wait until I return to Texas in the spring.

Positively lovely! The doubled up collar is a refreshing look, and you pulled it off well!

Extremely envious of your photoshopping skills- because your photos always look amazing!! I love how you were able to achieve something similar to the effect that Ellen's photos have. Any tips you'd like to share with the program? I've got it on my computer, but anything other than cropping and enhancing I'm completely clueless! haha
