Rust & Dust

The weekend went by so fast and it's getting dark so early again. I already don't want to wake up for class in the morning! On Saturday I worked at a fancy red carpet ball put on by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in support of music and music education in Arkansas. I enjoyed staring at all the pretty dresses and listening to the string quartets, and I'm a big fan of the cause too. Those events are always fun because they break the normal routine for a day!

Vintage Dress: Sally Jane Vintage/Vintage Cardi: Estate Sale/Tights: Zara/Oxfords: Goodwill/Hat: Saver's

Corey and I took these photos a week or two ago near my parents house, way out in the country! For the first time ever, I actually got permission to take photos on someones property. I probably wouldn't have done it if the owners weren't standing outside, but they were and I really liked the old, rusty cars, so I did it. Truth be told, I hated the photos at first and was planning on trashing them. I'm kind of glad I took a second look because I really love how all the rust compliments my cardigan and feather dress.
Photos by Corey!

Im glad you didn't trash the pictures too. They're worth a look see for sure. So you enjoyed the music? Do you remember who played, or what the program was? I feel like I'm the only young person in the world who loves classical music.

The photos are great, I'm glad you kept them. They have a real faded 70s vibe, which is in tune with your whole outfit. Loving the dress from Sally Jane.

I love the backdrops of all your photos and your style. Vintage styles are so much more original and have so much more character than everything off the runway and mass produced items most people own.

That's a perfect background for your outfit - so atmospheric!

Starr, you HATED these photos? As always I defer to your discerning eye, but really sister, these photos are gorgeous! I especially like the last one. Your eyes are stunning surrounded by all the smoky browns and oranges, and you look so wistful at your little desk in the wild.

I'm so glad you kept them, they are so beautiful. The rust totally offsets the outfit and the grey tights bring the whole thing together. That frock was a lucky find, it reminds me an little of Orla Kiely print.

These photos are fantastic! So glad you kept them--I'm wondering what you were thinking and feeling when you first saw them as they make me feel sooo good when I look at them. I'm an earthy kind so adore the browns and greens of nature's way. Your composition of them is great, esp the one showing the dress close up.
