Model: Mitzi Griffin
This is the photo shoot I worked on with Mitzi and Matt last weekend. When I was planning it all out, I couldn't stop thinking about this video from Vanessa Bruno. I'm such a fan of the work that she and director Stéphanie Di Giusto create together, and it's only amplified by the presence of the ever-so-charming Lou Doillon and Valentine Fillol Cordier – plus the music is really great too. I think I must have watched the film 6,492 times before I finally thought about Chenal Mountain.
I used to go to the top of Chenal Mountain a lot when I was younger, but my visits have decreased more and more over the years. I was introduced to it when a guy I was dating took me there to shoot skeet with him and a couple of his buddies. It was the first and only time I ever fired a shotgun!
It's probably the real reason I thought to use a shotgun with that 30's muslin dress, but when styling the look all I could think about was Annie Oakley and Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies –a much younger and prettier version of her, of course!
I wish I would've gotten more shots of the orange coat with the apple, but I really wasn't there to take the photos. Matt took care of that while I helped hold the lights. These shots were the only ones I could squeeze! The apple idea was loosely based on this photo from the Orla Kiely S/S 2003 lookbook and this scene from Dennis the Menace. Pretty random stuff, huh?
