The Modcloth Chain Letter Dress

Dress: c/o Modcloth
Vintage Blouse: Ebay $5
Vintage Hat: Gift from Anna
Espadrilles: Salvation Army $6

Can you guess what arrived yesterday?

You'd never believe how happy I was when I spotted a tiny box waiting at my front door. Finally my camera remote arrived, and I could get back out there to take some pictures! First on my list of things to photograph was this beautiful chambray sundress from Modcloth. I've been waiting to wear it for a couple of weeks now, and I'm also really really excited to reveal a new Modcloth/Blogger collaboration I'm kicking off on my blog today!

Back in June Turi wrote the 'Blogger of the Moment' anniversary post on the Modcloth blog and ended it by asking for suggestions of new and fun ways Modcloth could collaborate with bloggers. I suggested that we start a chain letter dress courtesy of Modcloth that one girl would wear and then pass on to one of her favorite bloggers. The next blogger passes it to her favorite. And then the next one to her favorite. And so on and so on. I love Modcloth's democratic approach to fashion, and I thought it would be a great way to get everybody involved! We'll be able to follow the dress in the the Modcloth Style Exchange pool on flickr. Sound like fun to you guys?

To tell you a little bit about these photos, they were taken down by the airport next to one of those creepy condemned houses. When I visited this spot back in the spring, I nearly died when I first saw something moving inside the house. I was standing far away, but I could still see something moving. It scared me to death until I realized it was just my reflection coming from a mirror in the bedroom. You can see it in the sun flare shot, and in the second to last photo. The house still creeps me out a little, but for some reason I like going back.

I guess I was feeling a little ambitious since I hadn't taken any photos in a while because I ended up taking some video footage too. I'd like to start making these short films a lot more often, but I'm going to have to start getting more footage first. I only had four minutes to work with this time and it's definitely not my favorite, but I love how these videos really bring the clothes to life, so I'm posting it.

Beautiful location. I really enjoy the little videos you've been making too. Great idea about the chain letter dress. It's so interesting seeing how everyone styles the same thing a little differently.

Such a great idea Starr! It'll be interesting to see all the places that the dress will go! One thing I love about clothing is the mystery behind where they have been (hence, my love of vintage!).

That video is amazing, I love the effects you did on it. Looks great lady :]

yey! Nomore seeing the remote and now you can hide it for fun!! I love these shots! I missed your outdoor stuff!! That is so nice that they gave you a dress! it is so pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ebay shirt is adorable with it. Lovely, lady!!! the only problem with passing the dress on to bloggers is if they aren't the same size as you. For instance, I don't know of any blogger who would fit in my size other than Quincy.

I really need to invest in a remote for my camera. It sure beats the heck out of the self timer.
