Hot Springs Thrift Finds

Here's some of the thrift finds I picked up in Hot Springs on Monday. Jake was sweet and took me to a few flea markets and thrift stores on our way out. Everything except the suitcase, the photos and the key were purchased at the same flea market where the prices were absolutely insane. They had some of the best bargains I've come across in some time!

I think my favorite of the haul is that leather Samsonite bag that's far too big to be a purse but the perfect thing to take on overnight trips. I also think it would be a really chic diaper bag if that should ever come up. Don't worry, that one isn't going to happen anytime soon, but if it ever comes up I'll have that marked off the list. (I think Jake would freak out if he read that last sentence!) The camping backpack is a smaller version of a tan 50's boy scout bag I got at an estate sale a while back. The other one has an external frame and was the perfect thing to carry at Bonnaroo. I attached my sleeping bag and slapped them both on my back! I guess I look like a moccasin fanatic right now too, but I honestly just keep running into them everywhere I go. The romper reminds me a lot of Bazooka bubblegum, and with the price tag of only $2 I couldn't leave it there.

The photo box at the last thrift store we visited was so wonderful. I rarely come across photos of women in the 40's and was happy to find that this man had a ton. I really liked the socks with the cutout sandals in the last two photos, and the first photo of the handsome man in the argyle socks and the pretty girl in the bobby socks and saddle shoes was just too charming to pass up. The man also had a ton of good luggage, and I was able to score my second piece for that end table I'm building up!

That Bazooka Bubblegum dress came a little too late for the Fourth of July. What a shame because the colors are too cute.

That would indeed be the most bad ass diaper bag. For the far far future :P Haha!

I love sifting through old photographs, then trying to figure out the story behind them. I found a box in a cupboard at home and it was full of people I didn't know, which was... interesting.

I want saddle bag anythings now—shoes, bags, horses. Sigh.

Wow I particularly like the dress you got. But all the bits go so well together, I think I should have been born in the 1940s because I love them!

Wow such a good haul! I love the rucksack and those photos. There is this one shop I always go to which has three big boxes of photos, I swear I could spend hours looking through them.

Oh my lands, this is all so adorable... I can't even decide which item to speak on because they're all so perfect!

I recently found an old college yearbook from the 50s with the neatest pictures. They remind me a lot of these :)

Pardon me while I wipe the drool from my lip:) I am loving that dress! What an awesome find! And those pictures are just perfect. I've always wondered what makes people decided to donate family photos. I actually bought a mid-century dresser from an antique mall and there was a drawer full of framed photos. But from the 1960s. I'm trying to think of what to do with them.

Fantastic finds! There's something really great about other peoples' old photographs. It's like you get to spy into their lives and make up the stories behind them for yourself. A total win!

That canvas bag is such a great find. Will probably last you for years. I'm so impress by your collection of vintage photos. I love to look and wonder who were these people.

That bag is awesome! I would actually use it as a purse, but I have a habit of always having too much stuff with me. I walked around with a knife(big knife!) in my backpack for almost two years.. I also carry dental floss, scissors, sewing kit, etc..^^

I love looking at old pictures! It's something special about looking at other people's memories..
