my memorial day in a country place.

I know I'm a little late on my Memorial Day postings, but I've just now found the time to sort through my photos. I really didn't have any grand plans for the weekend, and Jake had to work on Monday so I was stuck at home doing the normal internet stuff. Luckily, mom called pretty late in the morning to let me know that they were throwing together a BBQ for that afternoon. I was happy to have some sort of Memorial Day festivities to take part in!

I took Monkey for the long, curvy car ride out to my parents out, and since I've never owned a cat before I had no idea she would get so car sick. Like, REALLY REALLY sick, pooping and puking in the backseat of my car. It was a disaster, poor baby. She was really good when we got to my parents though. It was the first time ever to have my two favorite pets together, but there was no way I could capture the moment. Monkey feels the need to hiss at any other animal nearby, so I left her out of the pictures. This is my baby, Dakota. I've had him since I was thirteen, I think.

After stuffing my belly, I went out to the yard to get some pictures. I love all the random kids toys thrown about their country yard and all the little sun spots that peek through the forest wall beside them.

Canvas Backpack: Baggu $28

I was so incredibly hot after the photos that I couldn't resist a dip in the pool. It was a great excuse to wear my new/old suit too! Mom took the camera from me for a little bit and got some ultra goofy photos of me while I was swimming, but I kept it pretty sane and only posted one of the silly shots.

It was a good family day. :)

Also, the Moonshine Hill giveaway was supposed to end today, but I'm going to throw in a bonus day for you all to enter. I'm ending it tomorrow though, so if you want to win that cute buggy shirt get your entry in now!

Your outfit is full of win; I love it! I've been eyeing up that skirt at AA; this is the best styling I've seen of it.

what a great day...there's nothing like heading "home" and getting to enjoy feeling like a kid in your parents' house and yard. i love the kid toys! your family is really cool and i love their big yard (sort of reminds me of my own but my pool is waaaaay pathetic compared to this!) and your dog and little brother, it all looks downright jolly.

yeah, we've always had cats and never had one that could become a car-riding pet. that does happen for some kitties though, but we've always had ones that get sick like poor little monkey. cats are sensitive creatures. she'll get over the hissing too once she gets to know dakota. i bet they'll be besties.

happy summer to you!

The swimsuit is amazing!! And I'm glad you got that AA skirt--it's so so so so you. Did I mention that you inspired me to buy a hat for the first time in my life and also that Baggu bag. I blame you for my financial downfall and maybe a sudden upswing in cuteness thank to some new accessories...

Hello! I've been following your blog for a few days and I'm very happy to see your post... This post especially inspires me because I have a white-navy vertical striped skirt and I have difficulties to combine it with other items. But this gives a good idea! Thank you! Have a nice day!

I don't comment very much here (maybe because you get so many already, intimidating!) but I really love this outfit, I think it is one of your best yet. And that baggu, I had been thinking of getting one and these pictures have convinced me! Anyway, you look great.

This post looks so fun! Especially the swimming pictures- you're surrounded by fun floaty toys!

Your red hat looks like another version of the blue one you have. I want them both :)

OH MY GOSH. I love your bathing suit with insane love. haha. It is modest and gorgeous. The running photo of you is adorable. I love the tire shot too of you next to it.

Is your dog a Collie? I have a Shetland Sheepdog, but my Uncle has a gorgeous collie that I love too (he's had about 5 of them over the past 30 years). Sorry that you had to clean up puke and poop. At least you have a good attitude about it.

I have yet to post my Memorial Day photos. . .probably won't be able to until Monday.
