Bringing it indoors.

When the Miley Cyrus line first dropped at WalMart a couple years ago, I laughed at the thought of ever purchasing one of the tweeny designs. I was so-not-about the Miley Cyrus hype and was a little annoyed I was going to have to deal with her when I shopped for groceries too. Little did I know that in just a couple years I'd have not one.... not two.... but three of her pieces hanging in my closet! I'm going to skip the face of the line and go ahead and give credit to Max Azria for this though. I drool over BCBG pieces at Dilliard's, and WalMart is just about as close as I'm going to come to owning anything like it (I'm cheap, sorry). I realize that when I purchase my WalMart garb I'm choosing price over quality, but I can't honestly say I care. I've got enough good dresses in my closet, so sacrificing a few shitty pieces for the sake of trends is okay with me. I found this Miley Cyrus denim shirt hanging on the sale rack at WalMart for $5, and since I hadn't found one at the thrift store I wasn't about to pass it up.

On a side note, my outdoor shoot was a colossal fail yesterday. I can't get any decent shots when the sun is shining directly overhead and the temperatures are melting my face off. I brought it inside for what may be my new summer spot for photos, or maybe I'll move around the house a bit, we'll see.

Shirt: Miley Cyrus for Walmart $5
Shorts: Saver's $6
Socks: Target $5
Shoes: Cynthia Vincent for Target via Ebay
Fanny Belt: Modcloth

oh starr...you don't NEED f21, uo, or zara around you. if you can find a cute denim top at walmart, you definitely don't need those stores. i can't even find one with all those stores around me! i am in love with your shorts and cute fanny pack too :) love this photo location! your apartment seems to match you perfectly! the second to last photo is just...perfection!

I love those shorts! I've avoided that section of Wal-Mart at all costs, although I do get very tempted when I see some cute rompers!

Oh, and don't you hate the sun. I swear, the ozone layer is way thinner over this part of the world...the sun is so freakin strong it's impossible for me to take photos sometimes!

Haha I tried to avoid it also! But I ended picking up two pairs of floral shorts and a blue-ish skirt cause they were also only $5! I now kinda wish I looked at the stuff even more when it was all there and not just scattered in sales!

Oh and! I love this outfit on you so much! I didn't see that denim shirt there, but it looks amazing on you!

I didn't even know she had her own line. I did know that Avril Levigne had one because some of the girls who I teach in my youth group wore some. I wonder if they have some Miley Cyrus too. interesting. I love the birdcage by the way.

I would have bought that top too! No body will know its by Miley if you don't tell them... ;)

I can't get over how good your eye is. I would never have picked up shorts like that if I saw them on a rack - I'd be like "floral shorts?? I wore those in the nineties" - but then you wear them and they look SO CUTE in this outfit that I have to have an entire fashion paradigm shift - AGAIN (it happens often when I browse yours and a few other blogs)

yes! i have this ollld denim shirt from the early 90s and i have held onto it all these years, and i even wear it kind of a lot although i feel really dorky in it. i am proud to know that miley cyrus thinks it's cool! mine is ralph lauren (i thrifted it way back when...) and super soft and worn, that's why i love it. anyway i have to say one thing and don't take this wrong but I LOVE YOUR LEGS! i think because mine are the total opposite, short and stocky. your legs always look so graceful and yet somehow also strong and functional, does that make sense? also, i think my toe nail polish matches your nail polish right now. it's my favorite for summertime. and girl, you are a POET SOUL alright. i knew it.

I love the honesty! And I have stopped a few times to look over her line of cute stuff!!!

That's actually a great denim shirt, even if it is from Miley Cyrus' line. But I'm in love with your shorts and fanny belt! Starr, you always look so great and find the best pieces when you're thrifting. You've totally got an knack for it. You placeis adorable, I love the couch and the little birdcage too. Hope your Saturday is going well. Hugs!

in my opinion, if it looks good it doesn't metter even one bit how much it costs or who designed it, and this shirt really looks good! by the way, I love your nail-polish! can you tell us where you got it?

fab.u.lous shoes!!
i totally agree about price over quality. i have to be honest, I have far too many clothes and I have a short attention span and I get bored easily. why would I want to spend the price of 10 cheap coats for one that will last 10 years? why would i want to wear the same coat for ten winters?!
i love finding unexpected treats in collections you wouldn't normally think twice about. i'm always finding amazine goodies in the cheapest and tackiest shops most people normally just walk past!!

haha! wait, miley has a grocery line too? whaaat...i saw a few miley pieces at the thrift store and thought they were actually pretty cute!

This post actually made me laugh out loud. Admittedly, I would probably skip over anything that had the face of miley cyrus attached to it. But you pull it off fantastically.

Your house is SO ADORBALE, I love all of the furniture, it's a perfect place for photos!

I feel the EXACT same way about the miley cyrus line. I do not like her at all and was also annoyed at the fact that she had a line of clothing at walmart, but i, like you, choose to give the credit to max azria. I just bought that shirt on the sales rack to, however mine was $1!! Can you believe that?! :)

That is too funny. I felt the same way about the whole line, but whenever I walked around walmart, something would catch my eye, and low and behold it was a miley cyrus outfit. Here's the thing though. The sizing is absolutely bazaar! The xsmall wouldn't even fit an 8 year old.

nicely done, however you manage to do it ;) <3<3<3

I was the same way about the Miley brand, but now, I have two pieces of clothing and a pair of shoes. I love every piece and it is cheap.
I love the denim shirt, but I also love the shorts. Very adorable!

I love reading your blog...it makes me smile!

I also have 3 pieces from WalMart/Miley. Was pretty embarrassed about it at first, but whatever, I didn't spend more than $5 on any of them. Can't beat that.

I know exactly how you feel. I said I was never going to buy anything from her line, but some of the pieces are really cute. And why spend so much on trendy items?? I saw that shirt (and wanted it!), but it wouldn't button over my boobs. Damn breasts.

Haha I remember rolling my eyes at the thought of a Miley Cyrus line, but I did see a nice ruffled blouse I liked :) Your denim shirt is lovely, especially for $5!

Haha, I feel exactly the same way about the Miley Cyrus brand at Wal-mart. It's one of those things I love to hate and hate to love. Although love may be taking it a bit far, I've gotten some steals, that's for sure.

And those shorts = adorable!

kathy said...

Yeah, i was a bit unconvinced when fanny packs (or bum bags as we call them in the uk) started popping up in magazines, but now i think i kind of want one too! Actually i'm sure i have a tooled leather purse somewhere at home that has a belt loop in the back- i'll have to go on a hunt for it x

MarieBayArea said...

your floral shorts are so cool and you can't go wrong with a $5.00 denim shirt from wal-mart. your fanny belt is the only one i've ever liked.

Yay for price over quality (I'm a cheapskate, too!)
That denim shirt is pretty cool, I would have definitely purchased it too (even though I believe I might be allergic to Miley Cyrus...)! Those little shorts are too cute!

Raquel said...

well nobody needs to know it's from miley :P by the way i had no idea she that she has a line, well i'd buy it too!
and your inside shoot is so refreshing to see, because everyone has outdoor shots in the summer :)

I know exactly what you mean, espeacially about WalMart, I just recently bought a Miley Cyrus floral jumper that I'm going to use as a swim suit it was only five dollars lol, couldn't pass it up for that price whe I was looking for something simular all along, good gawd thought I completely feel you on the Miley Cyrus thing

Desiree said...

Ah, I bought the light version of this denim shirt. I had found out at a thrift store but it gapes a lot under the arms and, honestly, for $5 I wasn't passing it up. Miss Cyrus and Max Azria are killing me with those prices. And the thing is, the line goes on mark down like clockwork, within a month or two of coming out everything is $3. What. The. Heck Walmart?
