Etsy Update Pt. 3: Dreamy Wanderers

I'm not sure how many of you know this, but I used to have another vintage shop on Ebay at the tale end of the 'Myspace days'. I think I may have posted some old photos from it before, and I know I talked about it in my recent interview with Rachel if you got a chance to read that. Even though I sold about 70 items in a very short amount of time, it ended up being a very short lived venture. It was a lot of work, and a business that I knew absolutely nothing about. I didn't know much fashion terminology or details about fabric, and I was selling things that I didn't 'love' just because they fell into the vintage category.

That's what I wanted to change about this shop.

After blogging for nearly a year now I've really become familiar with the fashion language, and I've also really figured out what clothes I like and exactly why I like them. I've got this rule now that if I don't love an item than I absolutely can not sell it. It has to be something I would wear or would like to wear if I had the right body for it. And while all the pieces coming to the shop this week have a special place in my heart, there's something about this set that takes it to the next level. The pieces are romantic and daring each with their own particular personalities that make me swoon. I wanted to save my favorites for the end, but I'm a sucker and gave in on day three!

1. Scallop My Heart Dress
2. Floral Summer Maxi
3. Ivory Crochet Blouse
4. Yellow Linen Pin Up Shorts

Also, on a very important side note, you all may or may not heard about the floods that began in Tennessee over the weekend. Our Tennessee friends saw the rise of extremely high waters in a very short amount of time, forcing them to evacuate their drowning homes and leaving several people without food or shelter. This is a pretty serious disaster, and these guys really need our help! If there is anyway you can pitch in on the effort by either donating money to the Red Cross or CFMT Flood Relief, or by reposting this message on your blog it would definitely not go unnoticed. Also, Rachel over at Mousevox Vintage, who resides in Nashville, is having a two week storm sale where 50% of her store profits will be donated to disaster relief. Even if you do nothing else, I encourage you to at least go have a look around her shop!

That scallop dress is by far the prettiest thing I've seen in a long time. I'm so sad it isn't my size...

These are so beautiful. I hope they sell fast. I used to sell things like crazy on ebay, but hated how much they charged. For instance this month I sold 4 items, but listed 12. I owe $18 for them. awful. Ebay was better 10 years ago with the billing. Anyway, I love your etsy shop and love the scalloped dress but it is a slight small for my waist. I am glad there is a disaster relief for your friends and in the area you live.

Oh my thoughts go out to those who are adversely affected by the flood. I came back in 2008 to a pretty badly flooded Iowa City and things are still not as they once were. Also, these dresses and shorts and camis are beautiful! I, like, everyone else is crazy gaga for the scallop collar dress. I think it's gorgeous. And the linen shorts. I think your approach to selling vintage is wonderful and smart and it shows too! How lucky we are to be treated to these beautiful photoshoots. You're tempting me like crazy to buy the scallop dress..

This is gorgeous!! I too went through the same exact thing...selling vintage pieces just because they were vintage. I actually went through and completely gutted my vintage a few months back and promised myself I would only sell what I love! Such a good philosophy...makes me a much more proud seller! :)

I am in love with the dress with the scalloped neckline!

Oh, I so wish I was done with college and had a real job where I would earn lots of money, so I could afford lovely things as this. Your shop is really wonderful :)

Trust me - as a sort of "veteran" seller on eBay, when girls take it upon themselves to sell vintage and not know terminology, it tends to reflect on the vintage community as a whole. There are still girls selling Target clothes as "60s" which boggles my mind. I guess the bottom line is that after you get into vintage you'll just naturally learn the terminology and fabrics, etc. No doubt that shows in your posts. I definitely admire that you could at least admit that. eBay is a grueling job and the competition is crazy! Well, it used to be back when Nasty Gal and the big hitters were on. I always appreciate Etsy though because I think it's much more personal and allows for a better community vibe. I always like your styling and presentation. :)
