Denim, Scarves, & Goodwill

I know I said I was banning outfit photos in order to study this week, but as soon as I found out I was exempt from my french test I knew exactly what my reward was gonna be.

Both the denim dress and the shirt underneath were Goodwill finds I scored on Friday. I was actually sort of surprised to find two good pieces at the most awful Goodwill in town. We've got a total of three, but there's one that stands out above the rest. It's located in the older/wealthier part of town which means there's always a chance for a good stock of vintage dresses and higher quality clothing. I went there yesterday and spent a record amount of money. I'll tell you how much, just don't judge me when you hear it.

$60!

To be fair I got 16 items, half of which are going to the shop, but I still felt a little guilty when I was checking out. I really shouldn't though. I got so much great stuff, and I even picked something up for a little DIY project!

Denim Dress: Target via Goodwill $4
Blouse/Scarf: Goodwill $3
Shoes: Saver's $5
Vintage Ring: Estate Sale $1
Fossil Purse: Memphis Thrift Store
I accidentally walked out with it slung over me and didn't realize it til we were gone. So it was free...

Also, I know I mentioned the Tennessee floods yesterday, but I just want to remind everyone about the Mousevox storm sale where 50% of the profits will go to disaster relief. When I heard about the sale, I thought, how noble of Rachel to do that, and then I found out my good friend Annie was doing it too! Her shop is Little Ocean Annie, and like I said before, even if you don't intend on purchasing anything, at least go have a look around the shop. There's nothing better than fashion for a cause.

How PERFECT is that dress? And it fits you like a dream! You are so lucky. Love the way you styled it, too. <3

Haha wait, you're saying you accidentally shoplifted that purse? :D

These pictures are so lovely and I adore that dress!
I have totally walked out of a thrift store with a purse over my shoulder...not once but TWICE!!! I felt so bad, but I spend so much money there anyway, oh well, haha.

Okay, a few things:
1) The scenery in your photos looks exactly like the scenery around here in Alabama. As in, I thought maybe you were visiting. I guess the lush green is pretty similar all over the south!
2) NICE DENIM DRESS. It fits you so perfectly! How did you do that?!
3) I know just what you mean about certain GWs being better than others. Non-thrifters get confused when I suggest there is a difference in thrift store caliber.
4) You have made me miss thrifting EVEN MORE than I have these past few weeks (I think I'm going through withdrawal). The best I can do here in Tuscaloosa is go to this swell consignment shop called Twice As Nice. But there is a big difference between thrift and consignment. You know?

You know.

You look so pretty in that dress, my dear!! I love it. And, well, sometimes you just forget to pay for things! For me it was walking out of a store realizing I ate all the jojo potatoes from the deli and forgot to pay for them.
Thanks so much for posting about this, Starr!

This is such a wonderful dress!
I know what you mean with spending so much at Goodwill. My record amount was $89 and I walked out feeling so bad for spending all that money. But when you look at all your treasuries it is well worth it.

AWESOME find. That dress is stunning. I need to hit up the thrift stores around me. I haven't been to one in so long.

Sidenote:when I was looking at your photos, the upward facing one of the trees looked like it was moving. I knew it wasn't, but it still fooled me a couple times!

This whole outfit is great! That dress is amazing and the shirt underneath is gorgeous! By the way, I'm very glad you left these ones not tinted or anything. I love the colorized/saturated look of the outdoors your pictures generally have.

Oh Starr, that dress is beautiful! Your whole outfit is :) I wish I had goodwill and the salvation army....it is a lot easier to find great vintage pieces in the US...okay, lie. You can also find great ones in large Dutch cities but, alas, my town is rather small.

Concerning the lovely Vintage dress that you commented on: I really really wanted to keep it for myself and was so frickin disappointed when it didn't fit! It is so stunningly beautiful in real life! Mh, maybe I should just jump on the tread mill right now, haha.

I can't believe you didn't go back to pay for the purse!! OH NO!! haha. I once accidentally walked out of Target with a pair of tights but I went back in to pay for them immediately.

I love the dress! You look great in this outfit. It is totally YOU. It is okay that you did an outfit post! hehe.

that is the quintessential denim dress, I covet it

Starr you look so gorgeous in these photos! And I'm soooo in love with your ring! I was hoping you got it from an Etsy store so I could get one just like it, it's adorable. But estate sales are just as good :]

Oh, and isn't it kind of ridiculous how expensive Goodwill is getting? (or at least the ones here...) But 16 items for $60 isn't too bad nowadays.
