Memphis: Blue Skies & Boater Hat

Well, I'm happy to say the Memphis trip ended up a great success! I got lots of photos of our road trip adventure, our hotel shenanigans and our incredible view at the show, and hopefully, if I can catch up with my sister to get her camera, I've got a little video to edit together too. I'm working on editing all my photos today, but in the meantime I'm posting my outfit from yesterday. We took these down on the Mississippi River next to the beautiful I40 river bridge and the Memphis riverboats. Contrary to the dreadful weather on the first day of our trip, the second day was complete with pretty blue skies and perfect spring temperatures in the 60's. I thought, what a great day to wear my boater hat by the river just like the men in the photo from my vintage Alexandria book. The photo was taken at the end of the Edwardian era in 1912 and the caption of the photo reads:

Sham el Nassim (to 'sniff the breeze'), a holiday going back to pharaonic times, falls on the first Monday after Coptic Easter and is an occasion for all Egyptians, whatever their religion, to take the day off and celebrate the advent of spring.

Starr! I love this outfit. :) I need to get me a boater hat... I'm not a hat person, but I think I want to give this one a try.. the trick is finding one that will house my large and in charge head. :/

Happy Friday!

I agree with one of the above comments, the Edwardian picture makes me want to watch Titanic too...

Loving the photos and your sweet outfit as always, you are such an inspiration. Infact, just the other day I went thrifting in hope I would find a lovely little boater hat like yours and some cute little airy dresses and blouses like the ones you wear! Alas for some reason they don't have anything like that in the thrift stores where I live...
