Icecream Man, Outfits, & Giveaway Winner!

Yesterday was fun. I escaped from my desk for a bit to spend some much needed time with my sister, Kristi. We went to our favorite thrift store where we both made some great vintage finds. It's pretty much the only true thrift store left in our area. I swear every time I go in I only spend $5 and walk away with an arm full. Last time I went in I found a skirt but only had a debit card to pay with so the man who was working just gave it to be because he knew I frequented the shop so much. Funny thing is, now I can't find the skirt. Good thing it was free!

When we walked out of the thrift store the ice cream man was parked out front so we decided to buy some ice cream too! We sat at the picnic table nearby to eat it, and indeed, it was yummy.

After that we went to take some outfit pictures. I usually don't do too much primping of my photos in photoshop, but lately I've been fiddling around with it a lot more. I'm uncertain with how I feel about this set so you guys will have to tell me what you think. And don't worry, you won't hurt my feelings if you don't like them!

Here's a closeup of the shoes I'm wearing. Those holes lead straight to my foot. I really can't complain though; they only cost me $6, and I've worn them almost everyday for about 8 months now. It still hurts to see them go though. Where on earth do I take these things if I want to get them fixed? And will it be expensive?

Other than the shoe problem (which I've known about for a while) my day was pretty swell. To make it even better, Rachel from Mousevox Vintage ended it with featuring me as her 'Blog To Note' for the last week of April. I've always adored Rachel and her vintage shop so I'm completely glowing over this feature (thank you Rachel!).

I'm sorry to go on and on, but just one more thing before I end this novel of a post. Dear Beatrice giveaway winner! I went the easy route for this one and just typed my number in to random.org. Out of 44 entries the winner goes to #38, Brenna from this lovely blog. I found this cute video of her and her roommates accidental band, The Tashes, too. I think it's cute.

Shirt: Saver's $5
Shorts: Target $20
Tights: Tabie $14
Shoes: Goodwill $6
Train Ring: Salvation Army .59 cents

I love what you've done with the pictures. You haven't manipulated them too much; just made the light a lighter softer and more romantic.

And you make me want to try out the tights and shorts look. Cute!

That pretty much sounds like the best day ever. It's always a bummer when awesome shoes bite the dust, though. You have my consolations. :D

i really like their cute little band, listening to them now...

this has happened to all my favorite shoes and it's oh so sad, but the one time i took a pair into a shoe shop the guy said forget it, throw them away...i didn't, of course. the sole is split open and they've molded a little bit (as a result of packing them in a fabric suitcase, loading it into the bed of a truck, and traveling for two days in the rain) but like a beloved friend, i keep them hangin' around!

I don't know how much it costs to have shoe repairs, but I do know that there are still probably shoe doctors around. there is even one in my hometown which i am so surprised about. If there isn't one near to you at all I am sure you can find one and ship your shoes to get fixed there. Perhaps ask how much it would cost when you find one too.

oh yeah, and I adore your sister's shirt.

I adore your outfit. I really, really need some of those heart tights...I've been seeing them all over the internet and I'm kind of obsessed.

If you hadn't mentioned photoshop I never would have guessed. Most people don't know how to call a photographs successfully done on photo shop ad continuously overdue it but these looks amazing. Also, I can totally relate to you with your holey shoes, every single pair of flats I own have horrible holes in them, but I think it gives them character!

I wish I had an ice cream truck near me

I have been thinking about wearing a denim button up with denim shorts and you have inspired me to try it!

Also, you can get your shoes resoled easily. Just go to a leather repair person or cobbler. (They still have cobblers here... I'm not sure about there.) If you can find a reasonable cobbler he or she will probably charge you around or less than $40. Sounds pricey but when you love a pair of shoes so much it's worth it! : )

First of all, I am falling in love with what you are wearing. I don't find it to be the typical you, but it's still so full of shazzamness. And that Replay cover made my evening.

Tootles! <3

Your pictures always look so dreamy, I love it. They just look even dreamier now!! Great cut-offs, they look especially cool with those fabulous heart tights!! Good luck finding a cobbler, and I've heard they aren't too expensive. Every day for 8 months??? Sounds like it may be worth it.. They certainly are super cute shoes so I can see why you wore them out!

ICE CREAM TRUCK! I'm totally a kid when it comes to ice cream trucks, I literally scream and run after them when I hear it (very embarrassing, I know). Aww I'm sorry about your shoes, it looks like it has reached a point beyond repair :(

Jess said...

These photos are fantastic. Totally crushing on your shoes - can you get them repaired somehow?

MOUSEVOX VINTAGE said...

Your PS efforts don't look too shopped and that makes this awesome.

Icecream trucks are fun. I think the one that cruises my hood mostly sells drugs, though. Ha!

Take your kicks to a cobbler and have them re-soled. They'll be good as gold.

Thanks for the shout-out. Glad you like the interview! xo

i have a pair of shoes with holes in them like that! (mine were only $2... not to rub it in or anything haha). but, they're the best! i'm not so sure how to go about repairing them either...

also, thrift stores are so expensive now, huh? a dress at goodwill will cost me $6! that's unbelievable to me. they used to be half the price.

Manja said...

Oh no, the holes suck. I don't even want to know how sad I'll be if that ever happens with my fav black vintage lace-ups!
I like the way you photoshopped the pictures because it still looks very natural :)

Take your shoesies to a cobbler. I just got a pair back and they're better than when I first bought them, er, thrifted them. It cost about $25 to have them resoled and it was nice to support a dying craft.
