Explorer: Abandoned Buildings (so we thought)

In order to improve my photography skills it's been practice, practice, practice for me here lately. It's hard to really get to know the camera when it's set up on a tripod, so the other day I borrowed a couple of friends and went to an industrial area here in town. I think my favorite site was the vines intertwined with the fence. It tells a lot about the place and how long it's been since it's seen any sign of life.

I'm on a new kick to start exploring more abandoned buildings too, and I think I kind of rubbed that energy off to these skinny boys. When they spotted a hole underneath the fence there was no stopping them from crawling in! Of course they got inside and told me how incredible everything was, spiking my curiosity and forcing me to crawl under the fence in my skirt, panty hose, and heels. It really was a site to see, but unfortunately the second I got under there and started exploring, my camera died. I only got one picture of the place inside (and a lot of frustratation to say the least). We did more exploring and found out we were on the property of Exxon where they store the tanks for the trucks. It didn't take us long to find that the place was still in working order so it was back under the fence and off to more exploring.

It's fun getting out there in your town and finding places you never knew about, and I'm going to try to do it a lot more often. I wish I would've gotten more shots of my outfit, but this particular day wasn't about the clothes, it was about the place!

All of these are wonderful! It sounds like you had fun. I am going to attempt exploring Detroit more when it gets a little warmer, and when school is out. :)
