A little taste of country: They're shooting a Hank Williams film.

I found this great alley last week after driving around looking for a good photo-taking corner, tucked away just enough to prevent the rubber neckers driving past from seeing me. It's filled with old wooden doors that have paint chipping away just the way I like, and other curiosities that make my snapping finger go ballistic every time I see them. I guess the most alluring part is this old, decrepit building that I'm standing against in the last photo. You can't see it in the photo, but just above this point of view is a door that leads to no where and boy does it make my imagination tumble with whimsy. I'll try to post a photo soon!

So I was out taking photos when this man drove his car down the alley towards me. He rolled down his window and attempted some scattered small talk about who he was, what I was doing, and (the biggest question) why there were so many antique cars circling on the road around me. Funny, I had been wondering the same thing. To make a long story short, that man left for a bit and returned with an answer.

You see, I had heard on the news that they were shooting a big Hank Williams film here in town, but this very day they happened to be shooting in my neighborhood. As a matter of fact, they were shooting in the front yard of the house that I was at the back of! How random, huh? So of course my nosiness got the best of me, ended my photo shoot and led me to the other side of the house. I parked my car near the home and watched as the camera rolled across the overpass and toward the home. I wanted to take some photos of all this, but there were so many people around and I felt weird as it was, so I just stared for a bit before driving just a block to my home. (I drive to the alley because I feel weird walking around in heels with my tripod.)

Today I did some research on IMDB to see if there was any information I could show you about the film (actors, directors, etc), but it turns out they don't have any of this up yet. I did, however, find a blog that informed me of their search for extra actors! It gave me the email address and all the information they needed about me, and it even asked if I had some clothes from the 50's. OF COURSE I DO! On the blog it said it may be some time before I hear a response, but I submitted all the information with a photo attached and even a link to my blog (for more photos) in the hopes of getting even the tiniest spot as an extra in the film. This stuff NEVER happens here in Arkansas, so of course this is pretty much the highlight of my week!

Haha rubber neckers. I hate that when people drive by and you're like "um, go away." But oh my gosh! That's so exciting with film! The closest thing that ever came to my town was when they did some filming for George Clooney's "Leatherheads" about half an hour from my town. One of my friends and his dad were extras in it.

Oooh, I hope you get to be an extra in the movie! It sounds absolutely wonderful, and how funny that the Hank Williams movie people share the same taste in location setting as you do! I was in Paris one summer when they were shooting Before Sunset at the bookstore I was working in at the time, and I totally secretly wanted to try and be an extra in the movie but I think I ended up going to the South of France instead with a boy I liked. Oh well!

You always find the most interesting places for you shoots. I love it! I live in the city, and I feel like a big dork taking photos outside on the streets since there's ALWAYS people walking around. Hence, all of my photo shoots take place in my tiny apartment. :(

Good luck with the movie! That would be so awesome if we could all spot you in the background of a scene in your own clothes:) Thanks for the comment about my store. I'm glad you liked the dress and thought the prices are reasonable. I gave that a lot of thought. Anyway, thanks!

I cannot begin to say how much I am in love with this dress! It looks very similar to a dress worn by the actress playing Buster Keaton's wife in a silent film I saw ages ago. The blue gingham also reminds me a little of Dorothy's dress in the original Wizard of Oz :)
And I could not agree more about the commenter that said it's depression era chic!

As for the trench coat, it makes me all the more eager for it to be winter so that I can don my beloved military jacket...
