Hair Knots and Hemmed Dresses

don't you love starting your day off with a war against the alarm clock. you fight it off and bury it under the covers til it decides to it's little number at you again... and again. and again. ugh! i guess that's what i get for staying out so late and drinking one to many rum and diets with my friend Sieanna, it's just that girl time is so crucial to me. i should consider myself lucky to even have gotten that extra time seeing as i should have been at work last night, but monday's are kind of slow and taking the night off seemed more practical at the time. my only rule for taking off is to fill my night with something productive, so for that i turned to the pile of clothes in my office chair. they've been plaguing it for months, just sitting there waiting to be hemmed, but of course i've been to lazy to do so. they're all great pieces too, things i've been wanting to wear for so long, just couldn't because they weren't quite ready. in fact, one of the dresses was a purchase i made over a year ago that was in desperate need of my undivided attention. by the end of it all i hemmed three dresses and two skirts with a just a few more pieces left to go. it was such a great feeling to have a clean chair and a whole new addition to my wardrobe!

Vintage Coat: Flea Market $12
Lacoste Cardigan: Goodwill $4
Vintage Camisole: Salvation Army $1
Vintage Velvet Skirt: Goodwill: $4 (one of last night's hem jobs!)
Tights: Target $5
Shoes: F21 $24
Vintage Heart Necklace: Yard Sale $2.50
Purse: Goodwill $3

its amazing how you perfectly accent all of the elements in your outfits. the floral background plays wonderfully off of your new coat - and the white tights are a great contrast to your strappy heels. i love your blog and style and am constantly amazed at your fashion sense :)

Starr, this might be my favorite of all your outfits! 1. I'm in love with velvet so that skirt...made me die a little! and I love what you paired it with!
I never see your hair up in a bun, it looks so cute - thats one of my to go to styles I use when I feel like doing nothing to my hair but I might get it cut short this weekend, if I do I'm really going to miss that hair style!
I might punk out though haha!

So cute!

I have the same battle with my alarm clock every morning. I'll shut it off with the intention of getting up, then falling asleep and waking up 3hrs later realizing I missed school.

Great outfit!! It's so cute and the jacket is amazing! And yeah, I hate those days when stay out just a little too late and have to be at work at 8am. Made that mistake a couple times too many! lol.

Ugh, I hate hemming things. I'd rather make a whole new dress than sew a missing button onto another.

What a great coat. I have something sort of similar actually:) I know, I always let things pile up unless I make an effort to hem them right after I come home from the thrift store. Otherwise, they sit around forever.

You're adorable! I love this outfit, from the coat to the tights! I also love how you did your hair; I can never do that with mine because it's so heavy and uncontrollable :(

Ok. I can't even pick one thing I love about this. The hair, the shoes, the cardi, the coat, the skirt. Ahhh you're killing me with all these lovelies.

This sounds like me every morning. At least, in the winter it does. I am definitely someone who relies on sunlight. I could never live in Alaska because when it is winter, I would never wake up!

I love your hair not! I just cannot wait until my hair is long enough for that!

I have the largest pile of vintage finds that need/hemmed/altered......every weekend I say I am going to get to it....one day!
