Vintage College Girl

When I was going through my grandmother's photos on my visit down to Alabama last month, I came across some of her old college friends. If there's one type of vintage photo I like more than any other, it's those that capture college women in the 1940's. The clothes are always the first thing I notice, and then I proceed to make up a story about their history and their lives. It's funny to think that someone might try to do the same to me one day, attempting to pin an extravagant story on one simple pose, but I understand that you can't exactly stop you imagination once it's starts a brewin'!

Here's the photo of my grandmother's friends. Apparently there was an insane asylum across the street from their college so the girls decided to have a little fun acting crazy one afternoon. Boy, do the captions add to this story.

1940's College Girls

If these ladies only knew their outfits would someday inspire a college student in 2009!

How fantastic! And what is better is that the photos belong to someone you know, not just some random person you never met. I love that.

I love my grandma's photos as well. She claims that she did not have money for fashionable clothes and wonders why would modern girls be interested in her old pictures but man,on the pictures she always looks stunning.

Your style is wonderful, btw.

Thanks for the comment! I wish my mother still had that dress! However, I actually have a lot of her clothes from the 70s and early 80s. your comment made me realize that I actually own a lot of it! I'll have to make a post of it. :)
