Free Spirit.

Although I really wanted to wear something wintry yesterday so I could enter Weardrobe's contest of the week (where there's a $500 amex gift card price), the weather here in Arkansas just wasn't having it. Last week was pretty much as cold as it gets, but this week the temperature have soared right back up and I'm pretty much sans jacket once again!

I really didn't have much inspiration for this look, but once I got it on and later in the evening added my over-sized cardigan sweater I felt just like one of the characters in "The Edge Of Love". Although I've never actually seen the movie just a lot of stills from it, the mood of my look reminded me of the two free spirited 40's women giggling on the beach with little cares in the world.

What do you think?

Vintage Dress: Yard Sale $1
Vintage Boots: Goodwill $6
Vintage Socks: Estate Sale $2

Update!
I had a little time today to photograph it with the cardigan. I think my favorite thing about this look is the the over-sized sweater and the slouchy boots. Everything was just a tad too big giving it a playful feel!

I have been wanting to see that movie Edge of love since I saw the first sneak peak I just haven't had the time. I really do adore everything Keira wears on and off screen and I love the first pic you used;)

Oooh I just watched Edge of Love last night!
Tip: don't watch with your boyfriend! Mine was bored to tears. Poor boy.

I can see the resemblance to Edge of Love. I love the boots and socks combination. Romantic and suitable for traipsing around!

Every once in awhile it's great to be casual, even if it means a loose sweater and some undone boots. You still make it look chic!

I like that movie, it definitely inspired me. In Arizona, the temperatures aren't even close to being able to wear winter clothes so I share the pain.

its always a pleasure seeing how you contrast and highlight colors in outfits. that deep maroon is STUNNING against the buttery-tan color of your bag.

What a great idea! I love how you kind of updated it with the shorter dress . . .

That movie isn't the greatest, so you're not missing out by not seeing it. Fashion stills do the trick! :)

P.S. I have been staying with my parents and all those things in my pictures are my mother's. She will be so happy you like all them though. She loves to add vintage things to a modern room. :)
